Why Is EVERYONE Buying This Phone?

Plouffe

I think I'll stick with my tactic of buying old flagships for 200 USD. I currently have an S20 FE 5G.

weird, I never got a prompt. It just opened the same app...

If you're anything like me, you might have quickly dismissed it before even reading it. As I recall, it was a very unassuming prompt, that, at first glance, looked like a "would you like to rate this app?" type of prompt. I know I didn't even read it, then went searching for where "Duo" went, hence my understanding of this issue. lol.

I am rocking a Sammy a70 since 2020 with 100 apps on that thing (mostly because I am too bored to really do any maintenance on it and uninstall stuff I dont need) and its snappy as when it was new maybe the newer generations have this issue bought the a70 because I wanted a good phone but I didnt want to feel molested and describe to an psychiatrist with a crying face where samsung (or Apple or any other company ) touched me using a surprised Pikachu face fluff doll to point at the specific location.

I dont upgrade because I protest now since similar bang for buck phones now ditched the minijack because the companies want me to buy their earbuds which I really thought of buying but I also want to use my regular headphones and this made me not want to buy earbuds as well!

But mainly because I dont need it this phone does everything I want even advanced stuff I may upgrade in a couple of years just because the standards e.g for BT or screencast will change or what not and I will be forced to in order to keep the functionalities that I like to have and use.

Battery is great too!

Edit but its on screen fingerprint scanner (at least with the screen protector I use -but something tells me its not that given that the samsung updated the fingerprint sensor software/firmware like at least 5 times since the release lol) is hit or miss this is the only part I hate about the phone.

According to the local at&t techs (of whom I spent far too much time on the phone with, and in person) the BB KeyOne and Key 2 use a pseudo 4g chip that isn't supported on their network, and while they did try to keep my KeyOne on for a few weeks, it never worked right, so in the end, I had to give it up for a generic black slab.

I had hoped the Unihertz Titan would have a 5g version, but no go at this point in time,

I'd like to buy this phone in the next couple months, you said it came out last year mid march, should I just wait for the next phone to come out?

Also what is the difference between these two phones? They have different prices, and one is the international version. I am in the USA, but the us phone is more expensive. Which should I buy?

USD$400 US phone

USD$318 International version

The ones that you cannot Uninstall in Samsung phones is

* - You could disable it but not uninstall it

  1.  Galaxy Store
  2.  Bixby*
  3. AR Zone
  4. My Galaxy *
  5. Samsung Pass
  6. Secure Folder
  7. Google*
  8. Chrome*
  9. Gmail*
  10. Maps*
  11. Meet (NEW original is uninstallable)*
  12. One Drive*
  13. Playstore*
  14. Youtube*
  15. Netflix*
  16. System apps (My files,Phone, Messages etc )
  17. Game launcher*
  18. Modes and Routines (Bixby Routines)
  19. Phone Link (Embedded in the settings app but iam still counting it)

All of this was in Samsung Galaxy S20FE running OneUI5.0 (Android 13). The majority is google and Samsung stuff.  compared to the old vivo phone i had its a lot less and doesnt show ads when i install a app or do anything.

Wow, for the iPhone you can't uninstall

  1. Settings
  2. Safari
  3. App Store
  4. Messages
  5. Phone
  6. Camera
  7. Photos
Siri doesn't really show up as an App but you can't uninstall it.

Does i phone can changd  operating systems.

but for real I think apple integrated more stuff into settings rather than making own apps that isnt removable like siri is in the settings. Ar zone is a camara extention like thing you could acces it from the camara aswell. Samsung pass (password manager)  and secure folder ( encrypted folder) is in settings for ios . One drive is the backup thing like i cloud for samsung phones so lot of apps could just be a settings option rather than a app. Google stuff (google doesnt allow you to sell android without its apps right) is bloat and netflix is also bloat.  Most of the samsung apps like stuff is also in ios but it is well managed under settings compared to samsung leaving everything on a folder.

wrong. Very wrong. Android is open source, you don't need permission from google for that. That's why Huawei can continue selling phones with Android on them with no google services. You only need licensing if you wish to include google service on your phone such as the store, gmail, youtube etc.

How did you arrive at that number? Every pixel maintains the green subpixel and gets either a red or a blue subpixel, so I'm (or I was, at least) pretty sure the right way is multiplying ppi by 1 / √2.

In fact, this is exactly what Apple did. LCD iPhones (excluding the Plus variants from iPhones 6, 6s, 7, 8) are standardized at ~326 ppi and OLED iPhones at ~458 ppi. If you do 458 * (1 / √2) you get ~324, so the red/blue subpixel is still roughly the same as the LCD iPhones.

This is the Galaxy A53 screen at a microscope, courtesy of notebookcheck, and you can clearly see the subpixel geometry.

subpixel.png

My personal take on this: I can't tell a difference from 1080p (RGB) LCD. Resolution is too high and screen size is too low for me to notice, so I'll gladly take the OLED benefits instead of more resolution. Now I can definitely notice this on a 720p OLED, because it makes text look horrible.

Is that photo diagonal?
Also, what objective and, if any, eyepiece did they use?

For comparison, here is my S20 FE 5G.

but yeah, it's not really Samsung's fault for this specifically BUT IMO they are still partially to blame because the apps can't be uninstalled normally...

For Google apps, that's because of Google's Policy for using Play Services.

Pixel 6a ""5G"" doesn't actually support 5G in regions where the frequency matches, but google decides they don't want to support it :/
