what's the worst customer that you ever had?

12345678

dunno if to consider him a customer, since it was only a waste of time

dude calls me to fix an issue or something, I ask him what's the issue is, he repeatedly tells me to come so I can see it myself, alright then I ask him his address, he doesn't know his own adress but tells me to come at random x restaurant, that you can't find by googling, but he's sure that I know it since it's famous, yeah I don't know it, I need an address, then he starts chanting about his businesses, how good he is and similar snowbird/narcissistic bullshits

I manage to find the restaurant it exist, as soon I pass some cameras, he calls me saying that he's not anymore interested

a big waste of time, it's always like that if they are too much talkive, they end up wasting you time, but Christ this was weird

My first job was in a gas station. A decade later I still don't get the often long snarky complaints regarding the price, as if I had been a shareholder.

I work for DHL Supply Chain and sometimes we get random people in who google DHL and show up thinking we’re a DHL Express, usually it’s fine and we give them the address for a dhl express nearby, but some people don’t get it.

DHL Supply Chain doesn’t handle door to door parcels, we can’t get them to a site that does, we exclusively handle stuff on a pallet or container scale, we ship for automotive companies between manufacturing and assembly plants.

This one lady drives in through the truck entrance and into the yard ignoring the front gate attendant who immediately called it over the radio, they’re met in the yard by myself and two yard spotters to inform them they can’t be in here.

”I need to drop off a package”

Then you need to go to XYZ location and you need to leave.

”I’m not leaving until I can drop off this package, wheres your manager?”

And I had waited all my life for that moment.

”bitch you’re speaking to him, get the fuck out of our yard before we drag your car back out the front gate and call the police”

She refused to move, and got very upset when one of my spotters attached a tow chain to her car, she started screaming at him, at which point the police showed up, questioned her, and arrested her for trespassing.

I think sometimes people forget that not all businesses are publicly accessible? Part of our yard is considered an international port and is secured separately. You can’t just drive into something like that.

I ordered books for a store.

I didn't order enough of a particular book.

Customer threatened to call the prime minister to complain about my failure.

I told her to do it and I would deal with the consequences, overnighted the books at our cost, and got her photocopies of the first chapter.  Then I told my boss, and he thanked me for resolving the issue and laughed before going to apologize to a crazy lady.

Worked for a small IT repair shop as my first job. Had people become highly aggressive when you told them what was wrong with their pc and what needed doing.

Still remember one lady become borderline violent when we told her that her hard drive was failing. Gave her PC back and told her to leave. Her partner came in with every apology and asked to get it fixed but just refused.

Customers aren't always right and those who over step the line should be refused service.

Not a customer, but had someone come into the building asking for a washroom when I was near the door.  We weren't a retail location, and bringing him to the washroom would mean having to escort him to the washroom (as couldn't have someone unaccompanied in the building).  Guy was really annoyed when told we didn't have public washrooms, even after I told him there were public washrooms across the street.

Backstory: I drove for a disability transport service (non emergency medical transport), and we have a strict limit for carrying on shopping/belongings: 2'X2'X2' or basically 4 shopping bags. We have a 30 minute window for pickups, so the people know they need to be out waiting for us by a certain time.

Anyway, I went to pick up a lady from a grocery store. I arrive, and she comes out with 2 shopping carts FULL of crap. I call my dispatcher, they tell me to stand by. I wait 8 minutes, then I'm told to warn this lady we will not accommodate this ever again, but to get her home.

So, 28 minutes later, I've loaded the entire freaking 2 months of food she just bought, and depart. Got her home. Unloaded her stuff, took another 25 minutes.

I was 47 minutes late for my next pickup.

Kicker? The lady called and complained about me. The response from management? They suspended her for 2 weeks. XD

Once upon a time, when I was in retail, we had a customer that, without fail, would come in on any big sale day (Black Friday, Boxing Day, etc.) and refused to acknowledge the amount of business and how all associates are with customers already. He'd then proceed to yell across the store "is nobody going to help me?!?!" and create a massive commotion because people didn't drop what they were doing to prioritize him, the second he walked in the store.

The amount of entitlement from this guy was unreal.

Least the company had your back there and put their foot down.

All too often they side with the customer, even when they're in the wrong.

lol Wasn't even my company, was the transit district we work for.

Normally, they don't actually care, but the fact that it impacted our subsequent service so much (I was so late), they got a bit irritated by this.

Most of our clients are amazing people, but some of them like to push the rules slightly. :3

Ive been in retail for 22 years now, always in big box atmospheres and I have fired numerous customers. Ill bend over backwards to help you out but the second you turn into a nightmare bitch or become abusive to my staff Ill bounce you out the door and you'll never be welcomed back. And where I am is a suburb of a city so if you cant come to my store than you have to go into the city for another option and people definitely don't like that. Also this is a well off community so the sense of entitlement often runs high

Keep up the good fight. People need reality checks from time-to-time.

Had a customer that was so cheap, his phone had a broken mic and could have it replaced for zero cost but the inconvenience of going to a store was too much for him.  I gave up trying to do business with him over text.

I've mostly worked liquor retail in Australia the last 10 years… Been called a cunt before because I refused to acknowledge a customer who didn't want to wait 5 seconds to be served.

The best one however was only a few months ago. I just took over as manager/licensee of a different store in my town, now I had worked there many years ago, so I knew a lot of the regulars. Anyway, the previous store manager liked to keep cask wine in the fridge. Me personally, I dislike that as I observe the type that would buy it cold & we weren't adhering to responsible service of alcohol by doing this… So I took it out of the cool room, which coincidentally made more room for the ever expanding selection of beers we had.

Anyway, I was working one of the close shifts one Wednesday night. This lady walks in (turns out she was watching the shop waiting for my staff member to leave) and is all “YOU, YOU'RE THE ONE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE!” I'm a bit puzzled, but I roll with it, ask her what her problem is. Turns out she has beef with me because I took her precious sacks of wine out of the fridge & I have ruined her cheap wine drinking sessions.

I calmly explain to her my reasons of removing them from the fridge, from adhering to the rules & regulations of the local liquor accord we are part of. We don't have the room to keep cask wine cold, only beer in the cool room, cold cask wine sales were terrible & I had filled them maybe once in the 4 weeks I had been there. None of our stores in the area (including our sister big box brand) carry cask wine cold. To which she told me I was wrong, even though I used to work there, and we never carried it cold, and they still don't to this day…

None of this was good enough for her, because I wasn't bowing down to her (like most do, I found out). It eventually ended with her asking what my name was, to which I showed her not only my name badge. I also informed her it was on the window just next to the trading hours, as I am the licensee of the venue & that I am responsible for the responsible service of alcohol.

I never saw her again, as she figured out my roster that I don't work Sundays. I did find that she was sneaking her cask wine into the fridge & a staff member was allowing it as they didn't know of my policy. If I ever saw her again, I was going to politely explain to her that if she was caught doing that again, she would receive a ban from the store.

Retail is fun. I've been abused by all walks of life, from rich assholes to homeless assholes to barely legal age to drink assholes… Another favourite was the bloke who tried to bribe me with $20 to steal anything in the shop… I see him every now & then when I visit our others stores in the area & it's always a pleasure to make sure everyone knows he's a thief & a general piece of shit. I also believe there's an arrest warrant out for him for assault on a manager of a supermarket in the centre of my old shop, with a jail sentence attached to said warrant.
