Show off Your Setup! (Rev.2)

LogicalDrm

Computer of Theseus. Bit by bit it's rebuilt over time as I upgrade the weakest link. Some components are 7 years old. The latest upgrade was 1080 --> 3070, bronze PSU --> titanium.

Tech:

  • 3900x stock because stability > speed
  • 64gb 2666 stock because stability > speed
  • x470 Tachi
  • 3070
  • Noctua gigantic big-ass-tower-of-cooling-LTT™ Edition™
  • Phanteks case
  • Seasonic titanium 1000w
  • 4 spinners + 3 SSD's, 27TB total
  • 3x 27'', one of them 144hz
  • Bic Acoustech sub, Edifer speakers, custom stands
  • Schitt hardware and HD700's
  • Some other misc stuff including $100 in extra-long cables for the monitors, interfaces for the microphone and a 14-port power strip under the desk to power everything

Quality of life stuff:

  • Desktop is a wooden door I got from a resale shop for $5. Desk frame is a $800 standing desk rated to 500lb because a) standard desks don't go high enough B) the setup weighs 200+ lb and I needed the capacity
  • A 2 inch section of oak handrail I cut from the stock at Home Depot, drilled into the side of my desk to act as a headphone holder
  • Best aesthetic decision I ever made was getting two $10 lamps from Amazon and throwing the lowest wattage bulbs in them behind the screens. Fills out the room with a beautiful soft cast. Everyone should do this.
  • Three cheap Arctic whatever monitor arms for like $20 each. They actually work unlike the triple-arm scams that cost $200-500 and don't work. Highly recommend mounting monitors on any setup.
  • Take the arms off your chair and use your desktop as armrests if you're a tall person. It just works better.
  • Sound treatment in the room. I have a nasty 38hz room resonance that I will never get rid of because physics, but the cheap treatment I did do makes for huge improvements to audio "tightness" in the listening position. Controlling those first reflections is so important.

Finally a new GPU is in. Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6900 XT. Now the GTX 1070 can retire peacefully.

P.S

Don't lynch me about the cables. I have an entirely new set of cables from cablemods arriving in 2 weeks.

New 13thgen build, I was tired of cleanning fans all the time so removed all and took the side glass off. Found it more practical and clean.

Almost got a 3080 ROG White to complete, but I am better waiting the 4070 non-TIs

Love the idea of that wallpaper but hate so much how the rows aren't aligned, I would go crazy looking at that all the time.

Very clean setup tho. 🙂

This stupid thing started out as just a simple GPU upgrade that went full new build 😂

Asus prime x470 pro -> Gigabyte B550 Vision D-P

2600X -> 5800x3d

16gb Kingston fury -> 32gb Kingston fury

Red devil RX580 -> red devil 7900xt

NZXT h500 -> NZXT H9 elite

Have not put any effort into cable management since it's going in a new case as soon as it's available.

This underwater-cave-chest really took my attention. It looks so sick, especially with the AMD Wraith Spire cooler glowing in the mineral oil. It will be one excruciating nightmare to service, but looks awesome.

My mobile commissioning setup for HVAC and BAS commissioning. Just got it set up, it's really a game changer. Got a Smallrig arm, Asus portable monitor, and of course all of the Packout. Cart is from Harbor Freight.

My setup sure is boring compared to so many of these, I've had this little computer stand since my 286 days and haven't found anything better in all these years.  I did add a bigger keyboard shelf to it about 6 years ago.

The case is probably 10 years old now, only thing remaining from the first build in it are 2 fans and the BD-R disc drive.   Probably a dozen drive upgrades, 2 motherboard upgrades, 3 power supply upgrades, 4 GPU upgrades.

Yes, those are GN coasters, with a 486 chip sitting on the CPU coaster.

Here is my current setup, it was meant to be temporary having the PC in the living room but it's taken over a year to finish the basement and complete my master plan for world domination.  It's normally a pig stie but I've had more energy recently for a few reasons, plus spring cleaning took over and I use showing pictures as a reason to clean.
