GPU bake works and resell ?'s

tjrose91

A GPU bake actually works, idk what happened, but tried to sell a GPU 2080 cleaned it and was preping for shipping, had to cancel order as the GPU artifact and wouldnt install driver even on a GPU swap with another 20 series card, anywas it works now but have to seel it for parts or repair, do you think i get more out of a 2060 6gb with box or a 2080 evga black with box but sold for parts or repair but it works for now

Baking is a temp "fix". The 2080 WILL break again either tomorrow or in a month.

right, also it could have dried out the card fixing any liquid shorts

What temperature did you bake it at?

How did you bake it?

How long did you bake it?

Lets how good your bake was.

Ok so you spilled liquid on it, decided to bake it and now it works again for a bit?

Basically all the wrong steps to fix a liquid spill.

my toaster oven up by 25 increments so i did 375 and google search what temps should you bake a GPU mentioned 385 and the ifixit article that popped up first said 5-10 min but i didnt hit the start button until the gpu was inside so it got warm with the toaster oven instead of letting it get to temp first

I couldn't in good conscience sell a card that's been through that, even as spares.  I guess if you're completely honest about what its been through.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)

Be completely up front about what you did to that card.

List it as "Parts or Not Working".

Expect a return request within 90 days.

i cleaned the whole card not just dust the card, and repasted, it could have been simple as a liquid short even a tiny one, i did quick visual inspection and seemed dry before the back

As others have said, this is a temporary fix. If you sell this card to someone without telling them all this, you are ripping them off.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

Well what did you clean it with? Using simple isopropyl alcohol would not have shorted anything. Trying to figure out why you keep thinking there was a small liquid short?
