If I sold a building, I would be treating it like it wasn't mine anymore, because it isn't. It is clear that they have 0 respect for anyone other than themselves. And even when they owned it they failed to do basic maintenance. This looks like you are going to have to sink quite a bit of money into just to get it to the level required to allow you to make LTT labs.

Welcome to the corporate world. I helped move a datacenter and the people who sold the building left over 300 racks and literal tons of scrap/waste for the next owner to deal with. There is no such thing as kindness in corporate environments.

Should be able to set up a space in there to do proper ambient temperature testing with independent heating and cooling. Curious if the regulations allow for solar panels on the roof to offset the electricity costs.

 

Parking at these industrial parks is always a problem - you cannot add more parking spots and using building space for parking is not economical. If you're getting to the point where you have that many people there you're going to have to look for a commercial versus industrial site that offers more parking spots and can handle more people. Moving into a place that you know you've already outgrown is going to hurt you moving forward.

I'm not sure what your climate is like there, but here in Colorado.. Evaporative coolers are great for cooling large spaces like your warehouse.  The only downfall of them are hot AND humid day's.  We don't do much commercial but were working with the owner of a massive animal hospital that had an attached doggy daycare and they used two huge evaporative coolers on the roof.  The only problem was that they relied on the 100% make up air to heat as well as cool so all 3 stages of the huge unit's were burning them benjamins constantly on really cold day's.

Vancouver is known for being pretty wet and rainy so might not be the best choice, even if at least when I visited 10 years ago or so it rarely got very hot.

Thanks for the link - he has some points; stating a minimum salary would be a good middle-ground (but stating actual range is best).

 

That province law would be great!

 

It really grinds my gears when employers don't mention a salary range but expect someone to spend a lot of time filling out an application form (and interviews) - what if someone is the sole-earner for a family and they need to have a certain salary to make it work but must first spend a lot of time and effort applying before they even know if it's viable financially.

 

I think it's pretty easy for LTT to sniff out who is passionate and who is just after the money, the side projects question for example.

As someone who inspects pallet racks for a living, I hope that Linus and the team put in those missing anchor bolts at 17:22... Especially since BC is the most earthquake-prone province in Canada... if a member of the team is reading this thread, I'd get on that ASAP before the rack fell on someone....

Has anyone else got reservations about the direction that LTT is going? This channel is basically why I use YouTube. It literally saved my life when I was ill watching every single scrapyard wars from start to finish it kept my sanity for a while just at the right time when confined to a bed for about six months because of illness.

I just worry that the other day I thought Linus just dropped casually that they are 10 million in debt with investment, and recent LTT store sell offs seem like a fire cell for capital.

Maybe I'm alone I don't want to watch deep dive testing about a pair of headphones for example, do that off camera and just tell me the results and keep the jokes and humour coming that the loyal audience of the channel Love so much.

Sorry to be a negative first post but I do worry about the LTT families security, particularly when they are soldiers of fortune in terms of YouTube who could flip terms of conditions any time they like. Yes I know they have floatplane but I imagine YouTube is the major revenue income apart from merchandising. 

Anyway what's the best 32 inch gaming monitor I can buy for £550?

I think they're smart enough to know what an acceptable risk like this would mean for their future, and I'm pretty excited to see more in-depth tech analysis. I don't think Linus would ever let the personality of his channel go away, we'll always have the jokes and humor too.

I'm completely in for more in-depth content. Like @grimcitizen says, the personality won't go away. Look at recent hires and their content, like Dan. I'm thinking we'll have the best of both worlds and that will be cool.

And nothing prevents them from ever spinning a more in depth channel if the need arise.
