Your opinion on Samsung Odyssey G7 curved

HelgeoX

Hello, i'm upgrading my pc and with this follows the upgrade of my monitor
As of now i have a 27" 1920x1080p 60hz monitor. I'm upgrading to a pc with the following parts:

GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 TUF Gaming OC V2

CPU: Intel Core i7-12700

RAM: 32gb DDR5 5200MHz

With this pc would the Samsung Odyssey G7 be good for my pc:
https://www.amazon.com/SAMSUNG-27-inch-Odyssey-G7-Monitor/dp/B088HJ4VQK/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=samsung+odyssey+g7+27-in+2560x1440+240hz+curved+gaming+monitor&qid=1649694284&sprefix=samsung+odyssey+g7+27"%2Caps%2C184&sr=8-2

Is this a good monitor? As of now i can get it on sale for about 400$, thanks in advance!

The G7 still has a lot of issues. I would get one of these two:

Both are better than the G7. Or you can ditch the 240hz and get this for half the price:

OP is in Norway, so take that into account.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

I'm not a fan. I tried it and had pretty much all the known issues. But i have to say that this was when it was still new. But from what i hear most of the issues are still not resolved. $400 is a really good price for these specs though. I'd probably get one, test it for known issues and then return it if it has problems.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

it's a good price even to roll the dice on, i saw it in person and the smearing was so bad, probably a defective unit, but those are common for g7/g9, the common "solution" i see is to run it at 144hz, which would still make 400usd a decent deal (?) if you really like everything the g7 has to offer

Waaaay too much curve for me to be interested. I strongly considered buying it when it launched but couldn't imagine using it for anything but gaming, even then, I really don't like curved monitors that aren't ultra-wide and 1000R would still be way too much. May as well fold the thing at a right angle.... And I also watch a lot of youtube on my PC and wouldn't want that much curve for streaming content.  Glad I passed because now there are great options with the AW3423DW and C242. I'm happy I didn't pay $900 plus tax for it back then, wouldn't pay $750-800 for it now. I was very close because it looked like the only real upgrade to my monitor from 2015. But come this November, I may be able to get a C242 or MAYBE but prolly not, AW3423DW, for only a few hundred more.

I'd get one of the cheap but great Gigabyte 1440p monitors for $500-600 for now and then hopefully save $300-400 on the LG or Alienware later this year while having any bugs ironed out.
