personal computer
noun
a microcomputer designed for individual use, as by a person in an office or at home or school, for suchapplications as word processingdata management, financial analysis, or computer games. Abbreviation: PC

I got this from dictionary.com. So, people do things with Macs that make that computer a PC. Shouldn't it be Mac OS vs Windows, not Mac vs PC? Discuss.

Technically yes, but most people refer to windows machines as pc's and apple computers as macs.  I really see no problem with that either.  It just became that way.  No point in fighting it.

PC= Personal computer not Windows machine.

I'm putting Mac OS as a secondary OS on my "PC" but it's still a PC.

A better question is what is a public computer lol

Have you ever used OS X before?

I used it from 2006 to 2012. I basically grew up using it and still use it almost daily on my mom's laptop. I really like it, but I couldn't only have it since games and all that aren't really on it. That's why I'm using Windows.

Yep.  I hear you.  That's why I'll be building a pc and leaving my iMac.  BUT, thankfully I can dual boot.

Yep! It's the best OS for a dual boot by far, too bad you can't just pay like $50 for an easy installation method from Apple. At least I have a Mac to get Mavericks off of.

I know.  If they sold their OS I suspect they'd kill Windows.  But, we all know what Apple is about so that won't happen.

A Mac is a PC, OSX is an OS.

When people ask me what my laptop is, I say Mac. Its what it is. When they ask what PC I use, I say I built one. Cause it has no 'brand'.

And as far as Apple making their OS open field, I highly doubt things would change a whole lot, unless Apple got OEMs on their side. But Apple also likes to have some standard in design, and lets be honest all their stuff is built to a high standard (whether or not that is overpriced is for your wallet to decide) and I'd rather not use a fantastic plastic computer period, regardless of what OS it ran.

Yeah :(

If game support was there I don't see a reason not to use it, it's at least a lot better than Linux for regular software compatibility.

Good thing I have an almost perfect Hackintoshable build lol

The only thing that seems to matter the most is the board.  And yeah, you definitely have the right board.

I wish game support was there.  I don't think it ever will be though.

Yeah :)

It's kind of the same with software support too, things like HWMonitor etc. Compared to Linux though, the driver support is very good, but game support is basically the same.

Mac's are very im-personal so no they can't be a PC, not to mention the way they subject their factory workers (yes so does everyone else but they don't hide it) so still not very "PC" are they.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

How are they at all impersonal? You can install any OS you want on them.
