Dont be mean but i need one last opinion

please let me know what you think as this is my first build. please be respectful.

Questions for Discussion:

Will the 5800x bottleneck the 3060?

general thoughts on performance for esports games?

I play competitive esports games so i think 1080p is good enough for me especially since the 240hz is one of the best price per performace i've seen.

No.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The build itself looks great, will definitely perform well 🙂

The CPU will not bottleneck the card at all

You could save some money by going with a smaller boot drive (120gb is plenty but can be a bit stressful to manage), 240gb would be easystreet.

And for game drvies, a SATA SSD would be plenty. M.2 wont yield more FPS but the extra quick load times are awesome 🙂

@ArcticApe what nvme drive would you recommend. I had a 500 gb one on my last configuration but ppl said i should go up to 1tb for boot and frequent games also should boot be pcie gen 4

one last question: could i go down to a r5 5600x and not bottleneck at all?

Don't really need that class of cooler for the 5800X. You can go with the Scythe FUMA 2 and you should be fine. I personally use the Scythe Mugen 5 and don't have any problems with temps.

Used save money to jump you up to 32GB. Gives you more head room to run other programs in background like chrome, discord, etc.

You can can a similarly price 2TB NVME drive instead of SATA.

Overall, build was pretty well constructed though.

You can also consider 12th gen intel for a similar price:

It won't but I don't think the savings is really worth it considering the total cost of build and where the CPU market is going

I would recommend getting an even better monitor, with 280hz. I also went with 32GB of 3600MHz CL16 RAM, a 2TB m.2 nvme ssd, and a better case & fan setup. The extra 140mm fans are for the front of the case (intake), and you can move the one that was pre-installed at the front to the top-back of the case (exhaust). The new case will also support the NH-D15 cover, as the fractal design case would not.

Factoring in the added cost of adequately cooling a much hotter chip?

Yup. I am a bit bias to it though because I have played games that can hit all the cores of my 5800X

Using it as a boot and game drive, 1 TB would definitely be nice. And no a 5600x would be fine too 🙂

As a 5800x and 5600x owner since launch that plays a lot of games and does a lot of tinkering, I can confidently say there there is no appreciable difference in performance for gaming loads. However, the heat and power increase is significant. 5800x is not a budget chip. I urge you to keep this in mind @Ahellmann

If you do intend to go that route, budget for an acceptable cooling solution and a motherboard with capable power delivery if you intend to let the 5800x breath (PBO).

Neither is the 5600x. The budget chip is 10400,11400 or 12400

I like the meshify so if the ram is 31mm the fan 140mm and the slot is 7mm with the extra 5mm for the cover wouldn’t be compatible

(ram 31+fan140+5-7) 169 the case supports 169 so if i dont want to cut it that close i can just get the non compact because i like the case and cooler

So the NH-D15 height is 165mm. The cover adds 5mm to the height of the cooler. That wouldn't be compatible with the meshify 2 compact, but would be compatible with the meshify 2 non-compact. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fp2nnt

If you want the compact one, then just get the NH-D15 still but without the extra chromax cover. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DfPNNc
