Colour me impressed - BMW and E Ink unveil color-changing concept car at CES

It's amazing how these car companies build these concept cars with zero chance of anything actually making it into production.

I guess they have to, they're out of real ideas, and can't deliver on the basics.

How's BMW's EV transition going anyway? Not just the plan, but what's really happening.

Every corporation does this though. Its like hunting for treasure. 99% of the time all you will be doing is digging up dirt but every once and a while you will strike gold.

You mean if you're Nissan with Shiro Nakamura at the helm--that happens.  If you're GM and hit upon something the crowd likes--you murder it by committee until something like the Aztek comes out.

So you have Black and White (with shades in between), that's it.

Imagine the shenanigans you can get into if you scratched the "paint"

That's cool! The point about climate control made me wonder how applicable something like this could be for buildings in a few decades. Would be awesome to see a colored eink used but those are still incredibly limited when compared with only grayscale versions.

Meh....I can kind of see it having an advantage for advertising and such. Who needs bumper sticker when you can blog your thoughts to the world with alpha numeric color changing.

The coolest stuff I've seen though is with the color shifting pigments on dip your car on youtube. The museo black car was also disturbing.
