Yup that's the last straw I'm gonna finish my Hyouka review when I get home. Spoilers incoming.

Oh my... probably a wise thing to do before I sink my fangs into a review of Hyouka ;)

Speaking of reviews, Teekyu's back! And... well, it's Teekyu alright. The same short rapid-fire random comedy that you either love or despise. It's impossible to really review such brief, yet concentrated parody, but I still try. Better yet, there's a Teekyu spin-off as well this season (Takamiya Nasuno Desu) which is basically more of the same, just with different characters. I find Teekyu uniquely fascinating, even having watched Gag Manga Biyori... I just don't know if it makes me laugh at the jokes or how ridiculously fast it is. PS: the URL in the episode does work.

Yeah, I'm just as disappointed in myself.. but hey, I'm not made of stone! When people send me a link to another sub-forum and ask me to comment on something, I don't always pay attention to whether it's off-topic.

But light novels being better must be more of the rule than the exception.

valid 99% of the time (notable exceptions include Shinsekai yori), the following adaptation is usually inferior to the LN/magna in much the same way the book is almost always the superior medium.

from that, I drew that animu with good production value that were source-free original tend to get received pretty well (as there is no comparison to drag it down) and following adaptations sometimes have a harder time. Generally speaking this is much more vague of a claim.

Well, I act tough, but it's not like I've never cried to anime before. I just need better setup to be emotionally attached to something, that's all. Heck, I teared up in Birdy the Mighty's second season and Natsume Yuujinchou, so I'm hardly made of stone.

huh, strange, I don't seem to recall anything tear-worthy in Birdy. I can relate though, I only get the feels for characters I get attached to.

I think that's probably why I needed caffeine and eye drops to make my way though AB only to feel robbed by the last few seconds of the last episode.

I do have Natsume somewhere down in abyss, so hopefully that's good when I get around to it.

because it is assumed that your posts in off topic do not contribute the the forum and to keep people from spamming to get higher post counts

and I have no idea what that is

Just the reveal about Birdy's backstory in season two got to me.

I mean I could see it coming, but it's always painful to see such a positive character break down when they're forced to see reality for what it really is. That and her violent outburst in that scene reminded me of how people sometimes react to such overwhelming grief.

Just a heads up for everyone. You know how Chrome puts a "noise" icon on tabs making noise? Well in the developer options, there's a beta flag that you can enable that will let you mute tabs individually by clicking that icon.

It is so useful.

Unrelated to that, 7 Days to Die is starting to look pretty good imo. Like Minecraft with better shaders. They just moved over to Unity 5.

Wow, I had some time to watch anime again today. Nice. And for the first time in ages, a first episode has completely hooked me in!

Re-Kan.
This one was uneven, but for a moe show with an awkward sense of humor, it wasn't terrible. It was even mildly funny at times, though the "heartwarming" aspects felt really tacked on. At best it basically feels like something that would make for a pretty funny anime short, while at its worst it feels more ethereal than its subject matter or has elements that feel a bit obnoxiously out-of-place. So is it bad? Nah. But it didn't really sell itself very well, either.

Unlimited Fanboy Works.
Why is this anime so deathly afraid of revealing anything substantial in advance? I mean, I feel like I'm watching po-faced androids wander sadly around a game engine until they randomly step on the right tile to start a scripted sequence, and then suddenly there's a fight, a major plot twist, a bit of crying, and ONLY THEN do they finally deign to reveal to me (via exposition no less) why I should have cared about any of it in the first place. This story could actually be a pretty good one, if it was being told in a reasonable manner and with enough clues for me to be able to feel something besides vague detachment.

The Doe-eyed Appearance of Nagato Yuki-chan.
From one extreme to the other, huh? Well, as I expected, this seemed to be intentionally misdirecting the audience with its vapid "generic moe romcom" approach. But we'll see. Satelight is one of the few studios who have the stones to troll a fandom as sensitive as the Haruhi fandom, while still being good enough to make a proper story out of this once the troll fades away. If nothing else I'm mildly amused at their gall, and in the worst case I don't see this as any worse than the myriad other fairly-well-animated moe shows out there. But then I was never a member of the cult of Haruhi, so YMMV.

Blood Blockade Battlefront.
Despite the (very) tired basic premise, this episode was amazeballs. You think Stay Night has good animation, check this out. Plus, more interesting stuff happened in this single episode than the entirety of season one of Stay Night. They even know how to do that goofy "named special attacks" trope - go big like JoJo, or go home! So this show is basically right up my alley: a fascinating mess of chaotic ideas that slowly builds on itself until even the cliches have depth... all while an excellent OST full of personality plays in the background. They even managed to add an obligatory weird-animal-sidekick character to the cast without wasting any words or time on the effort.

O RLY!!! I might start doing that. Helping you out if you know what I mean.

Hey, if I have something to offer other sub-forums, I don't really mind. (Or if my brand of negativity/harshness is called for elsewhere)

So is anybody here excited for Overlord there's still no news what season this year it would air but I'm excited.

It's another Game turned to reality kind of thing, with all these animes mangas and novels with this plot I really think there should be a new genre called "Vitual Reality" or something.

Synopsis:

The story begins with Yggdrasil, a popular online game which is quietly shut down on its last day. Our protagonist Momonga decided to stay until the last moment in his beloved game and wait for the force logout. Unexpectedly, the server did not shut down and Momonga is stuck in his skeleton body and got transferred to another world. "The powerful Overlord" needs now to discover a new world and face the continuous challenges.

Having no parents, friends, or place in society, this ordinary man strives to take over the new world the game has become.

Here are some images too help your imagination.

So to compare them, Overlord will remind you of Diablo, while LH and SAO will remind you Torchlight
