You people complain about scalpers of graphics cards but in my country we have a real scalping problem currently

One essential component in one of our traditional christmas foods is canned European Sprat. 

 

Traditionally we fished it ourselves but our fishing industry imploded from 80's to 90's so now we rely on imports, mainly from Britain. 

 

Well this years fishing results from British fisheries has been really meager and now we have a shortage here of canned European Sprat. 

 

Scalping prices are now at 1000 SEK a can, this is for a product that costs around 20 SEK a can in the store. That is a 500 % markup!

 

 

So graphics card and computer component complainers STFU!

That's not scalping. It's simple supply and demand. That is affecting all kinds of products all over the world. What's going on with graphics cards is partially that, but the scalping is a cut above. For example, even at retail, graphics cards are now more expensive because of component and materials shortages (which itself is another supply-demand issue). Then, people are buying them at those increased prices and selling them for even more on the aftermarket. That's scalping.

Sorry I didn't specify. 

 

If you find a can at a shop it still goes for 20 SEK. It's secondhand markets (our version of eBay) where people sell them for 1000 SEK a can that they bought in a stor for original price. 

 

So yes scalping and exactly the same as graphics cards but with a much higher mark up. 

 

And please people don't take this thread to serious, I'm just mimicking the criers in this forum surrounding graphics cards 😉

We have a bigger problem here in the United States.

Chicken wings, once thrown away because they were worthless, somehow made yummy by a bar in Buffalo, NY, now are around $1.50 per wing!

And they're required eating for Super Bowl parties!

We ordered a large pepperoni pizza and 30 wings and it came to over $60! Same thing a few years ago might be around $25.

No scalping is supply and demand. The retail price is higher so the scalpers adjust to the price increase. Don't ever forget scalpers solely exist because people are buying from them. So is it really a scalper issue or a dumb consumer?

 

Also this is all within the scope of luxury items like PS5s and GPUs not necessities like food
