A student who is not interested in computer science can do better than a student who is interested, what do you say?

I don't mean that someone has different talents and another person has different ones. My point is that a person who is completely uninterested in computer science understands it faster than a demon and is doing better, but she is not interested in it. And for me, IT is interesting, I am interested in it, but I move it all slower.

Oddly, a programmer who programs may not know how the RAM or the processor looks like. The programmer needs to know how the processor works, but what you mean is that he has never even had to see or touch it.

It happens is all I can say. In secondary school I didn't care for religion, yet following the course and studying for it was straightforward for me and I got good grades.

I have 4 professional qualifications, several tertiary/certificate qualifications and have held 6 different career's in a professional capacity (including both school education and manufacturing training).  This is mainly because I get bored really easy and  I learn on the job faster than from books or in lectures.  Of all the people I have come across in 30 years of working,  I have found that having an interest certainly helps, but being able to knuckle down or simply having an aptitude and work ethic will get you over the line just as well.       Especially if we remove innate talent from the equation (because many people have that without even trying).    Literally every learns differently, some people are good at learning, some people are fast and some people are slow.  I had one guy I trained to install caravan body tops,  it took him 3 months just to be able to get the job done without mistake (most people have it down pat in 2 weeks),  They were preparing to let him go when it clicked, he then became the fastest fitter on the line within a few days of getting it.  Some people just learn slow, but they have just as much chance of becoming the best as those who seem to learn fast.

 

My advice is just do what interests you, don't chase money, stature or compare yourself to others when learning,  the happiest people are definitely the ones who do what they want, not what they have to to get what they think they want.   If that makes any sense.

Simply religion, all of it. Although since it was a Christian school it was mostly Christianity and Judaism. My point was I didn't care for the subject yet I did well. Interest helps, and if you want to pursue it as a job should almost be a requirement, but it's not as simple as no interest == can't perform well.

Depends on the Programming Languages uses. Assembly and C/C++, do require the Programmer to understand the Hardware.

 

The 8-bit Home Computers of the 80's, most Applications and games were written Assembly for good reasons.

true. I know nothing about cpu besides it crunches numbers and fetch/stores bits into ram/disk. Programmers usually work on the architecture(from assembly and everything above) rather than the microarchitecture(actually implementing the proccessor that runs these insturction sets).

I'm not imposing my religious views (which I don't have, because I don't follow a religion) on anyone. In highschool, because it was a religious school, we had a course "religion", that I had no real interest in. Depsite that, I still did well.

 

Another example then. I liked maths, but I absolutely sucked at it and barely passed the final exam. Ironically I'm a scientist now and still deal with math regularly I was trying to illustrate that no matter what someone's interests are you can still be good or bad at the subject in question.
