That`s a F****ng steal. You can overclock that but it would be a chore since that cpu has a 130w TDP.

If you don't want it, please buy it and send it to me. I'll gladly send you 40 Canadian pesos plus shipping

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

TDP basically means by design, the CPU can put out a maximum of 130 watts of heat under full load with all of its limiters enabled. Overclocking will always exceed the TDP so you can expect it to put out even more heat than it was designed to, which necessitates a bigger cooler.

Also, I agree that the CPU and motherboard combo is a very good value at $40CAD.

X79 for what is an i7 2600 money. FUCKIN. STEAL.

That board alone is worth your trouble, honestly. Go and get it, and get a good used cooler for it. And when you can you could throw in 3960X or 3930K in it for 6 cores.

I'd say get it. Cheapest I've seen a 3820 with mobo is $75. Cheapest i7 3820 I've seen is $25. Cheapest board I've seen is $40.

I would go for it, since it's still an i7 and pretty capable for gaming even today.

Because a 3820 is still a damn capable chip, and I can always find uses for a damn capable chip.

It's an X79 CPU. Not really all that attractive, but having a genuine X79 board with it makes it more than worth the price of admission. You can build a moderately competent gaming PC out of that with the right GPU. It's just good hardware at a great price.

If it's a motherboard brand you know, you're good. If it's a Chinese name you've never seen before, it's a salvaged chipset slapped onto an X79 socket.

Most likely not. Those chinese boards can and will be a fire hazard just itching to happen. Will it boot? Yes. Will i recommend it beyond benchmarking and standard desktop use? No.
