were the ltt forums affected at all 👀

Edit: Yes

Thanks for pointing this out. It looks like a lot are just text references to vid.me, such as this post, but from a quick look there are some links that now redirect to pornographic content. The moderation team is going through them now. 👍

Edit: The moderation team has, to the best of our knowledge, removed any links to vid.me from the forum. If you do notice any links to vid.me or any other links to pornographic websites please use the Report function to report the post as Pornography to alert the forum moderation staff.

Just to clarify, the video links directed to dead pages that directed back to the pornographic websites home page. There were no embedded previews or autoplaying videos. It would still be reasonable to expect that someone may click on those links and unintentionally be directed to the pornographic website so the links have been removed.

so it doesnt redirect to a video, but to the main site landing page with just a link to a ton of videos. (Yes for reasons I clicked one and checked how it worked and redirected) so no video will auto play or audio unless they have something baked into the home page

Thank you for your research, sir.

One of the sites tries very hard to sell membership apparently if you sign up an account. A co worker of mine got an email from them at the beginning of this year (we had many weeks of quarantine last year. We worked 3 weeks on 3 weeks off with 2 weeks of quarantine the majority of the year). Summed up, "You've watched an average of 4 videos a day. Please consider signing up for a premium account"

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

A few years ago someone stole content from me, republished it word for word and without rehosting the photos. Passing it off as their own.

Lets just say those photo URLs contained something wildly different when the person woke up the next day.
