Open back headphones with really wide soundstage recommendations under $250?

KyberKylo77

I'm looking to try out a pair of open back headphones and i specifically would prefer pairs with a larger soundstage. Impedance doesn't really matter as I'll be buying an amp/dac pretty soon.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Definitely. They are very comfortable as well, has probably the best build quality I've felt on a headphone so far.

I said this in your other post but, the G5 or G6 from Sound Blaster are both very good DAC/amps.

PM or DM me if you have any questions about audio.

Yes. Less piercing treble when amped and a more balanced sound.

Akg k702 and k701 as well as audio Technica air series are the widest soundstages in this price range

Are you saying this based on having used both, or opinion is based on reviews? I'm not questioning your recommendation, just curious is all. I do agree that DT990 tends to be quite sparkly, I have a pair of DT 990 Premium (600 Ohm) and I do like the sound, but admittedly, I have a high treble tolerance, though I do have my limit. I recall having the Audio Technica ATH-AD2000 and man, it had quite the sparkle, though female vocals was just lovely (best I've ever heard).

I currently have the dt 990s and i gotta say i dont really notice the piercing treble everyone seems to be talking about. That being said, i probably have highly insensitive ears.

Because you aren't amping them. They sound sloppy and undetailed when not amped properly.

Based off of having both yes. Maybe they aren't extremely bad in the treble but they do annoy some people. So it is just a warning.

These aren't as sparkly as the DT 990 pros 250 ohms.

Really? I can't say as I've only the 600 Ohm version, and my cans (I now have 5 of of >10 on rotation) are properly amped on either my Oppo HA-1 (in Balanced mode) and iFi Micro iDSD BL.
