5800x hot hot hot

A 5800x not being able to run at stock settings with a top tier 280MM AIO is faulty.

My 5950x @243 Watts only hitting 87c, I don't care how different people think a 5800x CCX is to a 5950x. Stock settings shouldn't thermal throttle in a single run and 87watts shouldn't be anywhere near 88c. This guy needs to replace what ever the faulty part is.

A 5800x will not thermal throttle at 90'c, it won't until it hit's 96'c+.

He hit 93c in the BIOS on first boot, if anyone thinks that is perfectly normal for a 5800x the rest of us can't help you.

He hit 88c at 87watts - not stock. The 5800x runs hot, but not that hot.

I'm only scared of my Delta fans. And if a fan scares my fingers, then I need to buy more of them lol

I know what you mean brotha! The one fan I have that commands attention is my 92x35 DC Koala III, she's a 4K RPM ripper that enjoys turning your knuckles into meat flaps.. we have a love hate relationship, right now its hate.. 😄

It also kill headers if you hot plug.. only took me 3 boards to figure that out.. I do use an LNA adapter with it now.. 5v gives it the bare minimum. I have to finger it a little to get her to move when she's cold 🤫

That wasn't on first boot, that's after a bench mark. He had it at 39'c during 87watts too.

88c in eco mode at 87watts mean something is either broken or improperly installed. If you are certain everything is installed correctly and the cooler worked perfectly up until the day you swapped it to the new CPU, return the CPU.

Anyone saying to try "this or that" is talking out their ***. 88c at 87 watts is soo far gone that it CAN'T be caused by fan placement, whether its exhaust or intake etc etc. 88c at 87 watts is 100% broken or totally improperly installed.

My 5950x only hits 90c with my Arctic Freezer ii 280mm in a single R23 run if I heavily OC it to over 235+ watts. There is no way on earth a 5800x should hit 88c at 87watts unless something is completely and utterly broken or wildly improperly installed.

Return your CPU if the cooler is installed properly. Its true the 5800x runs hot, 90c stock settings with the best AIO money can buy though means something is wrong this in NOT normal.

PEOPLE HE IS HITTING 88C AT ONLY 87WATTS IN ECO MODE - STOP TELLING HIM ITS BECAUSE OF FAN PLACEMENT, SOMETHING IS BROKEN.

I must have missed that. I saw max of 230w.

How did he manage to even get to 230w draw if he was near throttle at 87w?

You were half right, I misremembered and put 230 watts earlier. But it was at 250watts that I actually hit 90c in 1 run.

I know the 5950x and 5800x are different beast, but the point is still valid. I'm using the same cooler and pulling more than 87watts through each CCD and the same cooler is handling both better than his 1 CCD with less heat density in eco mode.

There actually another thread in the cooling section where I was talking to a guy with a screenshot of hwmonitor and 230w.

I have both of these threads combined in my head.

Just ignore whatever I've said here. Lol

I was changing the fans to intake on the freezer II and I checked the thermal paste. Guess what There was some kind of gray rock or peddle, chunk of dirt. From the middle halfway to top right corner was a chuck of whatever. I couldn't get the camera to pick it up. It looked like harden thermal paste. I used  Mx4 that came with the cooler. It came in a gram syringe. It could of been anything I guess. I really don't care Its running like a whole different rig now. In regular settings got a better cine bench 2thousand better and cooler temps like 79c. I cant wait to see what she can do. 871268025_Screenshot(18).thumb.png.2b721ffa136a6a841c3c914f00f45773.png

Thanks guys I do appreciate your help with thinking this thru. And tomorrow I'm going to spread out the rest of that paste to see if there was any chunks in it.  That chunk was like a rock or something. I fired up Tarkov and I'm getting 59c-60c at high settings. Gpu running about 10c more than it was. Thats probly from the flipping the fans to intake on the freezer. From what I reading earlier.

If you have to resort to undervolting all it means is your cooling simply isn't adequate

(At least from defaults/not ocing)

I started to undervolt it as I wasn’t happy with it running at 90°C. AMD says it’s fine for the chip to operate at that temperature but it’s nothing I want my CPU to be at all the time.

I‘ve read loads of threads with people with NH-D15s having similar experiences as I do.

Like others have mentioned the 5800x is just a beast to cool.
