For Apex I'd consider 1440p. I watch a lot of Optimum Tech's various monitor reviews, and every time he reviews one with a focus on gaming (he specifically plays a lot of Valorant and Apex), he mentions the higher resolution helping pick out targets in Apex/Warzone type battle royales. For Valorant alone the higher refresh could be worth, but for a mix of both I'd stick with 1440p.

The other day I made a parts list, and after much help from the new builds and planning section, I ended up with this, (IK the psu isn't that good, so disregard it for now).

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Deekzie/saved/#view=vZrQP6

Now my main questions are do I stick with this monitor and game at 144hz in 2k

LG 27GN800-B 27.0" 2560x1440 144 Hz Monitor

Or do I go with this and game at 240hz in hd

https://www.amazon.ca/AOC-C27G2Z-Curved-Computer-Monitor/dp/B088LG2BSW/ref=sr_1_16?dchild=1&keywords=240hz&qid=1624997058&s=electronics&sr=1-16

Keep in mind I don't really mind the quality as long as its in hd, and tbh I don't even know what 2k looks like and if it would be beneficial for me, as I'm a gamer.

Well I would be apprehensive about the 240hz VA panel monitor. VA panels are notorious for having bad ghosting and other issues when at high refreshrate. Granted that isn't always the case as the Samsung 1440p 240hz VA panel monitor doesn't really have those issues which is pretty impressive as VA has been known to have the worst response time and color transition times out of all the panel technologies.

What games are you playing? 240Hz HD for CS/Valorant type stuff, 1440p144 for Battle royales (where picking out enemies from afar or funky terrain matters) or just general use.

2560x1440 is not 2k...

Anyway, its completely up to your preference. Your system can definitely handle both.

If you sit fairly close, I don't recommend 1080p on a 27".If you have an okay vision, you will see pixels and if you're the type of person that hates aliasing, it will be absolutely terrible. I would recommend 23" to 25" at 1080p for typical sitting distance.

27" on 1440p is prefectly fine.

Do you play many fast paced competitive games? 240Hz may be better for you... but honestly the jump from stable 144Hz to stable 240Hz is there but its nothing incredible.

And notice the word "stable" because if your FPS will fluctuate in between then you will barely see any difference.

R6S, CSGO, etc... I would definitely go for 240Hz but smaller screen at 1080p.

Warzone, PUBG, etc... 144Hz 1440p will be much better imo.

Also a good point to keep in mind is what games you ate going to be playing. If you like to play competitive games like cs:go, valorant, overwatch, rocket league and other such first person shooters then I would personally go for the 240hz. If you are more of a casual gamer and just want a good looking monitor with decent refreshrate then the 1440p is also a good option. I would opt for a 1080p 240hz ips model personally though as I hate curved monitors and I prefer the vibrancy of the colors on an ips display. 2K (also referred to as “1440p”, “Quad HD”, or “QHD”) is quite the upgrade to 1080p. A 2K native resolution is 2560 pixels horizontally and 1440 pixels vertically.

I'm looking for a 240hz monitor under 350 cad, cause I ain't trying to stretch my budget too much on the entire pc build, and I don't have all the money I need to buy the parts rn as the offer on that monitor ends in 2 days

2560x1440 is QHD

2k is DCI native 2048x1080 or DCI flat cropped 1998x1080 or DCI CinemaScope cropped 2048x858

Saying 2k is very confusing as some people think its QHD but it's not... there are also people that refer to 2k as FHD as that is much closer to 2k than QHD which is more 2.5k if you want to use that metric... just use the HD (720p), FHD (1080p), QHD (1440p), UHD (2160p) terms it's way more simple and does not cause confusion.

I would pick the 1440p monitor over the 240hz if you are going with the VA panel one from the original post. VA just aren't the best when it comes to response times and I would probably trust the LG 1440p monitor more unless I saw a review of the other monitor and see what the actual response time of the monitor is. Also the deal on the 1440p 144gz monitor is kinda a steal so probably the better deal regardless.
