You cant block youtube app ads if thats what you are asking.

Pi hole isn't a very good ad blocker anymore since they changed things last year and blocked importing 3rd party blockers into it such as unlock origin etc...

I mean the pihole was nothing special, it was just very easy and convenient. You can do the same and more by yourself as they used open source code. Pfsense also has pihole like plugins you can use but you need Pfsense on your router

Inaccurate. You actually can. I use a browser called Brave. It uses Chromium and is not the best but blocks trackers and ads well so good for streaming. Also it's free and saves you paying Google more of your hard earnt money.

You can. By not using the youtube app itself and using a third party app like Vanced.

Not looking to spend any money. I have a Plex server, NAS and Raspberry Pi I can install Pihole on and that would be free.

not for me. all the browsers and adblockers i've tried on my phone no longer block youtube pre-roll ads. Youtube Vanced works, however it doesn't work great for when i hook my phone up to my TV, (samsung DeX) keyboard shortcuts for fullscreen and skipping through don't work 😞

Set up Pi-Hole. It's technically free, but you'll need *something* to run it on, be it a PC or just a cheap Raspberry Pi.

OP can run Adguard DNS on their network and see if that helps. That is completely free, requires no additional hardware.

I'm running pi-hole on my network for similar reasons. Just be aware that if you're thinking YouTube ads, there really isn't any way to block those.

If you use pfsense as your router you can setup squid and squidguard to block ads on your network (except for video ads in youtube).

Don't give your TV an internet connection. Wise practice, in general. 

 

I never gave my LG CX wireless access and only plug in the ethernet cable if I want to run a firmware update.

That's probably the sole reason I don't use the youtube app even though I'd like to.
