Why can't I get the CPU cooler to touch the CPU

83y

Why??? I am using the ryzen stock cooler, I am tightening it to the point of where its about to break and at first I thought it was the CPU coolers pre applied thermal paste, so I applied some, Is this touching, I'd say it is, I need your opinions.

Was there once another cooler attached to this motherboard?

Those 'nuts' on the motherboard are not standard equipment.

You install this AMD Wraith cooler by using the (with the motherboard) included backplate and nothing on the front.

See from section "Installing a CPU cooler with spring-screws:" and further.

One reason might be those standoff things, you usually dont have them. Try just screwing the cooler in to the backplate

Big nerd.

Take off the nuts for the cooler mount.

They seem to be really tall, and I don't believe they are standard.

I could use some help with this!

please, pm me if you would like to contribute to my gpu bios database (includes overclocking bios, stock bios, and upgrades to gpus via modding)
