It was, but it was also guided by conditions at the time. There's no way a $300 phone could be competitive with the latest flagships in 2021 like it might have in 2014.

Pretty much all pinhole camera's are placed in the very top of the screen. In old phones, that space wasn't even used for screen estate. 

So you're basically complaining that instead of getting a 10% larger screen you get a 10% larger screen with a tiny hole in it. 

You can also just be happy with the extra screen space..? 

And besides, what do you want then, a camera that is under-display? Don't really see that happening anytime soon. Or one of those shitty ass pop outs that will break after using it a few times?

Overreaction? So you'd be fine with a car with a punch hole on your front visor too? Just no. Nobody asked them to use 'extra' space with a punch hole, literally nobody.

You're not getting extra screen space, if a hole is there, it's not an extra space then. We'll get there with under display cameras, and we've seen the pop out camera used before, they stopped after a single model for some reason. They don't break, that's just nonsense.

You pay 1000€+ for a phone that comes with a hole in it's display that you'll watch for years to come when you watch content, many avoid them like a plague. 
You seem more bothered that other people point out dumb decisions by manufacturers and what they dislike.

I have no problem with punchhole displays.

I thought it was a bit annoying at first but have gotten used to it, and I don't think it's as big of a deal as you make it out to be.

 

If you don't like it, then Samsung gives you the option to hide it by disabling the top part of the screen, making it a "normal forehead".

Personally, I think it does add to the screen. Our options right now look like this. Which one do you think has the most screen?

They went from $250 phone to $1000. Then Oxygen OS to Color OS. I am having hard time ever seeing myself own a OP device after all that.

My oneplus 8 pro kicked my note9 in the nuts in terms of user experience. The 9 doesn't warrant an upgrade from the 8 though.

I have a work phone that disables the top part of the screen, it still is visible on various content.

No, no. Hydrogens to ColorOS,  so only China gets cucked for now. OxygenOS lives on  but it's future remains uncertain given the current path OnePlus is going (slowly making one with Oppo)

One day I will be able to play Monster Hunter Frontier in French/Italian/English on my PC, it's just a matter of time... 4 5 6 7 8 9 years later: It's finally coming!!!

That watch is such an Apple clone it sorta hurts lol. It's totally dead on arrival tho even at that price as the Apple Watch ecosystem is just too well refined at this point to compete with. Maybe if they support it as long as Apple they can start getting some traction

No, nobody asked for notch and then a hole. Apple did it, everyone hated it, others copies, even more hated it. Yes smaller bezels sure, curved display no, it's trash. Cutting display, no, because you can't properly fullscreen anything without that hole annoyance.

Currently only Sony and Asus and other gaming phones have complete display, they look great, you don't lose anything, so stop saying nonsense with notification bar.
