Yeah I kinda guessed, there's nothing wrong with that but you'd be better served with "normal" desktop parts since you've got easy access to 8/12/16 core parts now.... I don't think you are likely to see much if any difference from your x99 setup.

5900X = 550, 3900-500$~ new, This CPU and mobo costs me 435$ together, So it's not an EXCEPTIONAL deal in comparison but its not bad by any means, from what I'm seeing locally I'm only able to find a 3900X for 450 and 500, on any of my usual routes

That is still great for today's needs. I had DDR4-3200 CL16 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2x8GB kits(2) and worked great with my 9800X;which I no longer use.

not worht it then. but really even ryzen 7 3700x which is 8 core and16thread wil give you much better gaming than the 7920x. streaming is the same since you should stream using Nvenc of the gpu

Trust me, I'm certain I won't notice a difference, but availability is also what Im curious about, RN locally what im finding is 7920x X299 FTWK for 435, or 450 used for a 3900x..Not a fantastic deal on the 3900x if im not mistaken.

I can easily snag a used B550 Pro4 and 3700x combo for 320$Ish of a guy, but not certain how I feel.

yea I do run it using NVenc, but I've heard others praising X264 if you have the ability to use extra cores that games wont utilize

Man if you can grab a 5900X and a B450 board, you'll be set. That won't be too much and the IPC of Ryzen will kick the 7920X's ass for the price/perfomance though.

That's not at all bad pricing. Plus OP can upgrade to a Ryzen 5000 series processor down the road or get a higher-core count CPU.

for gaming/streaming/editing 3700x would be only one you would really need. it would be plenty.

 

also used 3700xs or also an option. or used intel i7 8700s, 9700s, 9900s etc everything with atleat 8cores and with atleast 3 years.

what? the x264 is very simialr to Nvenc but using Nvenc does not affect pefrformance while x264 does on certain games

Tbf, I did snag a 9700KF, 32GB of CL16 Trident Z, NH-D15, an EVGA 750W NEX Psu, and a Z390 aorus pro wifi for 320$, but those are once a few months kind of deals

I know X264 can effect certain games based because of clock speed but, eh. What do you think of a 10700k, and a Z490 Aorus Gaming X for 420$?

Honestly I would go with this deal as the 3700x is only faster in select workloads and the 5600x is allot faster in the vast majority of gaming loads

well that seems decent. the 3700x system for 100$ less would make more sense for me, but if the money is not as big of the problem with you sure 10700k is faster than 3700x in games. not much better but you will notice it. also what cooler do you have? that 10700k runs pretty hot

Check out to see if Micro Center has any open boxed CPUs that are not BENT PINS. You might be lucky and pick one up cheap and get a B450 board. I'd spend the extra ~$50 to get better performance that the 7920X +X299 will provide.

i have the same case. have all the fans runnign at 20% speed and still decent airflow. Gamers Nexus rated that case one of the best airflow cases. 

 

a  TIP: front fans are loud. manually set the fan speed to 20-50% (depending on your temps) that will help a lot. going form 100% fan speed to 20% fan speed worsend my temp around 7C but i will not hear them at all.

 

that AIO seems decent too.

 

10700k deal seems decent. but do not rush it. if you have time try to look for 3700x/3900x deals. also look at used 9700f deals too. that has only 8 threads, but still decent gaming chip

What are using to change fan speed? I've used Argus monitor, they are fairly loud but nothing to control them from my experiences via PWM but software is capable of it? AIOs baller, keeps my 5820K Chilly all the time OCed when its like 200w+ so No worries there

In practice they're quite easy to cool. I only have the 6 core 10600k but mine is currently running a workload equivalent to Prime95 small FFT, and hottest core is 74C under a Noctua D15 (room ambient 24C). Thanks to the 14nm process they have a large area which is easier to cool. Certainly the Zen 2 CPUs I had in the past were harder to tame the heat on even at stock due to the tiny size of the dies.

 

I think the best reason NOT to get a 10700k is simply that the 11700k is due any time now, and it'll be interesting to see how that goes.

but yes some software like "speed fan" will be able to change it further
