Looks like a short. Screws look wrong. Did you not mount standoffs and did you use the wrong screws?

@Noctilucent Adastra you need to get a hold of ASUS directly. Send them this video, pictures, whatever it takes. Especially if it's under warranty. This NEEDS to get resolved by them ASAP.

You can't repair a blown up motherboard, honestly man what the f**k were Best Buy thinking. Did you tell or show them what happened?

I said that it literally blew up, and I think the guy was just as shocked as I was. I couldn't send files at all. I'm going into Best Buy today with it in hand to see if they'll give me a replacement.

Case had preinstalled standoffs and I used the screws that came with the board.

Usually the screws are the little ones

usually theres not much going on near the mounting points, but it seems the metal heads of those go over the shielded areas

Mobos do not typically come with screws. Mobo screws come with the case.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

It wasn't starting, so one of my friends who works with computers a lot was helping me troubleshoot it. He had me unplug all the ram, cpu and gpu to see if it would start.

Like really what did your friend expect to start without a CPU ? 😛

Anyway if it still on warranty just pretend this never happened and tell them while playing my game the computer shut down and I cant boot it up anymore I tested all my other components on a friends computer and all work besides this mobo

Just got out of best buy, they just ordered me a replacement board. They looked at the old one and after showing them the video, they were like, "Yeah, that's defective."

Great service. Next time read the manual and use the right screws 🙂
