Intel 5th gen desktop CPUs is leaked to support new IRIS grapichs

Hello!

 

 

For those who dont know the new Broadwell CPUs is going to get released 3th or 4th quarter this year. Also the 5xxx series.

Its leaked to support IRIS grapichs which is the new Intel grapichs. IRIS will be good in games too! correct me if i am wrong.

integrated graphics is a waste of time....

 

It's always nice to fallback on if you can't finish your build right away, or if the GPU is DOA. Makes things a bit easier to diagnose. 

I somewhat agree though, I wonder what would happen if they went ALL out on CPU and forgot about IGPU

I wouldn't mind doing a igpu and dedicated set up on laptops where I can switch to and from the two option for power savings but on desktops I don't see myself using the igpu unless I have major issues with my dedicated GPU

Xeon?

 

Xeon's aren't for raw performance though, it's more about stability for 24/7 100% usage operation. (Like almost all workstation things)

Unless you don't play computer games or only play like football manager or the sims...in which case its really useful for the average joe

 

iris pro is really powerful, especially in current gen crystalwell processors like in the 15" macbook pro

Not interested in broadwell, i am waiting for Skylake hopefully its another sandybridge competing with the enthusiast platforms like the 2600k did to the 980x

Iris Pro 5200 is decent, definitely better than what we had before.

 

Also to those who bash integrated, three things:

 

1. It isn't aimed at you

2. your opinion on integrated is irrelevant

3. STFU

use the extra die space for a larger GPU and onboard Dram

we dont need more larger CPU cores .....

I have seen people playing Battlefield 4 and Titanfall with their 7850K while they are mining with 5 R9 290Xs.

 

I don't want to imagine what their power bills look like unless electricity is cheap.

iGPUs work great for low-end HTPC builds, where the most people would ever do is watch 1080p video. 

Lower power consumption (if they can achieve that) is also great. It will be awesome to see desktop-grade hardware in mobile form factors due to drastically lower power consumption.

Not if you use it as a co-processor for on-the-fly encoding via quicksync :)
