Honestly, sales of high demand items should be limited by IP address and limit to one with sale cookies preventing multiple transactions. Just institute something like that and then just not tell anyone.

limited by IP address

I can get 100 unique IPs for, like, 20 bucks.

Fair, but I'm assuming most people aren't looking at it like that and if they can't purchase more, and the bot is confused, that they give up or are at least slowed down some.

If they ever wanted to get serious, all they have to do is run it like a rare beer release: everyone buys 5$ tickets to the lottery and you have to submit a picture of an ID card. If your number comes up, you get a card.
Doesn't stop strawmanning (nothing will), but allows couples to in theory both win.

I like the Newegg lottery thing that's going on now, it's at least a temporary fix....

Or do it by MAC address.... That's harder to manipulate... Just make it so inconvenient to buy more than one that it's not worth the effort.

MAC Address is link local..... It doesn't mean jack past your local network.

I made one of those and it got my eBay account suspended.

EDIT:
Also, because I'm underage, I can't appeal it for another 4 years.

You should have been suspended for that because its a scam.

as long as the description of the item is accurate, it's not a scam, it's a case of buyer beware. read the fine print.

I stated everywhere possible that it was a scam.

Description:
This is NOT an RTX 3070 FE.

This is a floppy disk and a picture of an RTX 3070.

Do not buy - this is a bot-catching listing.

You are still obviously trying to deceive somebody on what the product is.

In the title, it said "Read Description".

In no way was I trying to deceive anyone - except bots.

Selling air is age-old scam. Nothing new, and people haven't changed in past 200 years that much.
