cpu thermal throttling i think

Jelz

Hello,

i am experiencing some frame drops in games, this hasnt happened before and ive recently just dusted my pc with an air compressor. im running a ryzen 5 3600 and im not sure, here is a screenshot of the temps playing gta. the spikes are 80 degrees and the flat lines are 73. when i play call of duty the spikes of temperature happen more often. is this normal ?

open up your side panel, see if temps improve a lot

stock cooler on 3600 shouldnt hit 90s

guess it's your case not having adequate airflow, 15c drop is a lot

try gaming now, see if issue persists

this is more of an expected temp from a stock cooler on 3600

does your game still drop frames?

if it does happen again, it's probably some background tasks spiking cpu usage? or it's the game?

will have to diagnose more and monitor more things like gpu, cpu threads and storage device usage

you could try DDU and install the latest drivers, but i dont think it'll solve it

but you have a driver update anyways lol

display driver uninstaller, it's the cleanest way to reinstall graphics drivers, it solves many graphic driver related issues that cant be solved by normal uninstalling and reinstalling

download DDU and the latest driver form nvidia's site, then unplug from the internet (to prevent windows from installing their own driver after u use DDU)

then boot into safe mode(optional) and run DDU, then install the latest driver and you should be good
