why doesn't Intel just upgrade from the 14nm?

1 minute ago, mechanical keyboard said:

Why?

Bc they have manufacturing and rnd for 14nm very mature. So it is ez for them to stay and just choke the last bits of performance out of 14nm

lol thanks, I asked that question bc I am planning on building a system. Naturally I would go AMD (3600) however they are sold out. Soo, Intel?

Their 10nm technology is not ready for production in the scale that Intel require,so it's currently featured on laptops but not on desktops.

10nm yields suck, 7nm is probably still broken, plus they are deciding if they wanna outsource their 7nm right now, probably the worst position intel's ever been in, but they'll likely come out ok in 2-3 years.

make sure you use the quote button so people can see your responses

Intel has processors on the market so if you need to buy a computer now, it's the only decent option, unless your budget was gonna include a ryzen 7 3700X and a budget B450 motherboard which would still offer some nice value.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

nm is just marketing and shouldn't be factored into your buying decision at all

Intel chips aren't bad, look at benchmarks and availability, then decide for yourselves

check the price for 3200 cl14 or 3600 cl16 ... it will be a tad faster and if you can afford it might be worth the price difference.  Besides that it's the kind of build I was considering before black friday ... would have gone for the z490 tomahawk which had 100 off the normal price.

That 1650 super is really entry level and not suited for a build that powerful ... is it just a place holder until better gpu becomes available ?

I9 10850K

EVGA RTX 3080 TI FTW3 ULTRA

32 Gb Crucial Balistix ddr4 3600mHz 16-18-18-38

MSI Z490 Tomahawk

Fractal Design Ion+ 860W platinum

Arctic Liquid Freezer II, 360mm

WB Black SN750 NVMe ssd

TeamGroup L5 3D Lite 1 Tb sata SSD

Yes the 1650 super is a for-now GPU, plan plan on upgrading sometime down the line to a 3060 Ti, also a Rocket Lake CPU

not worth it just wait a few months if you can and stock should be normalized not like your getting a GPU right now

Having onboard graphics can always be usefull for diagnostic purpose if something goes wrong.

If it's only $5 cheaper or smth, I would grab one with graphics because

1) you may use the video out from motherboard (I do)

2) it's good for diagnosing issues

Ok, I have noticed that the I5 10600K runs hot. Is a 240 rad enough?

Yes,but i prefer to use the NH-D15s instead with a 120mm fan in addition to the included 140mm fan.
