Cyberpunk 2077 - PS4 Version on PS5?

Ezzy-525

I was wondering if anyone knows if it will be possible to download and play the "PS4 version" of Cyberpunk on PS5 hardware at launch?

My old PS4 is virtually dead (the fans go into jet engine mode whenever playing a game), so would rather buy it on PS5, even if it's the "PS4 version" before the upgrade happens in 2021

Anyone seen if this is possible?

I dont really know but based on a video I saw it should be backwards compatible, but dont quote me

I just checked the PS Store on PS5 and it says:

"To play this game on PS5, your system may need to be updated to the latest system software. Although this game is playable on PS5, some features available on PS4 may be absent."

Don't know if that's specific to Cyberpunk or just copy paste for all titles.

Really don't wanna pay £50 for it on a console I can't use. And whilst I could buy it on PC...I wanna get some use out of the PS5

I guess just wait for the 10th. I'd be surprised if Digital Foundry doesn't have a video comparing the game on PS5 vs PS4 for launch.

Yeah think I will. I mean, as my current PS4 is...it's not going to be playing it anytime soon anyway. And if PS4 was the only option is definitely go PC.

According to this article the PS4 version works on PS5 from the get go

Pretty much every PS4 game works on the PS5, with some very minor exclusions (the most notable of which is P.T. and Hitman Go). Cyberpunk 2077 will be playable on the PS5 with the PS4 version and will probably lock to whatever the maximum resolution and frame rate the PS4 Pro version will run at.
