Mixing DDR3 and DDR4 sticks

Hi guys! First time for me posting.

I have a question about the impact of using different speeds of RAM in different pairs of channels on my motherboard. For context:

I have recently purchased a gaming tower for myself equipped w/ 2 8gb DDR4 sticks from Kingston. My cousin recently decommissioned his old gaming PC - and left behind 2 sticks of 8gb DDR3 memory. Is there any issue with slapping these sticks into my rig?

Thanks so much in advance for your responses.

ddr is not cross compatible. ddr4 will not work in ddr3 and vice versa.

DDR is not backwards/forwards compatible, so no, you can't mix your DDR4 memory with his older DDR3.

Thankfully, the notch on DDR4 doesn't match the one on DDR3 (or DDR2/1 for that matter) memory sticks, so you won't be able to install the DDR3 memory in your board.
