Best wireless gaming mouse without Omron switches

Louie Friesen

Hi there,

I've been considering upgrading my G603, which I've had for about 3 years, but according to my research most wireless gaming mice have Omron switches, which normally get the double click problem.

I don't want a mouse that will have double click problems after a few months or years, so basically Logitech, Corsair, Asus and HyperX are out of the question (because they use Omron).

I'd prefer not to get a Razer, because I'm not a huge fan of their logo.

I was looking at the SteelSeries Rival 650 Wireless because it uses their own 60M switches, but I've read some reviews and some say that the rubber/silicone things on the sides slip or fall off (I'd be fine glueing them back on, I've got plenty of types of glue at my disposal). Are there any downsides to the Rival 650 Wireless besides that and Micro-B charging? How's the durability and reliability?

I'm also open to other recommendations.

Read the reviews on Amazon for basically any popular Omron switch mouse like the G703, G903, G Pro Wireless and G502 Wireless.

Yeah, but you're only reading those people that have had a problem. Unless you're reading hundreds of thousands of "my switches died" responses, then it's not really that relevant. They sell millions of mice. Not all are going to be flawless, some will die prematurely. That's just the nature of any product.

So basically you think that I should try my luck on a mouse with Omrons that I think I'll like and if the problem happens, then see if I can fix it like this (scroll down to the part where they show how to fix the spring).

I think you're overreacting to a problem that isn't nearly as widespread as you think.

Ok, thanks.

I guess that the really only people who would leave a review like that are the ones that that happened to and the ones that it's just fine with are the ones that just leave a rating?

if really concerned about double clicking happening, razer is the only manufacturer currently with optical mouse switches.

Or nothing at all. Most people don't bother rating the products they buy.

I would say get the razer new deathadder v2 or the viper ultimare, which use their own optical switches

If youre a real snob and can deal with a wire then topre has made a mouse that uses topre switches. Its expensive and probably not worth the price though.

Many use Omron switches, may depend on quality potentially. Though many don't get any issues, those that do report it sure, but yeah many don't rate products when they work fine.

I had no such issues, my current mouse uses Huano switches though.

I do not intend to advertise anything but we- Dream Machines released new mouse model DM6 Holey Duo which is a wireless and with Huano switches. What are your thoughts comparing to G603? I mean I know it's a different type ( holed) mouse though if you search for wireless Huano clicks mouse I thought I though of mentioning so that you could check out.

That's a nice looking mouse, and I like the shape. Personally I don't really like holed mice. I'd definitely consider one if there was a version without holes tho (and maybe some RGB) :)

How long do you use your mice for on average? I tend to upgrade every 3-5 years, so I'd think that the spring would definitely bend a bit for using it for that long of a time.

BTW I don't play FPS games and other stuff that is intense on clicking.

It should be fine if you're not abusing it over a period of time like that.

If you're really that worried about it, get the mouse from MemoryExpress and get the 4 year IPR.

OP - you notice another common denominator with all the mice you listed as having issues? They're all Logitech mice. Reason why double-clicks happen on these products is because Logitech obstinately refuses to use the proper voltage/current that Omron specifies for their switches, instead running them on microloads that eventually damage the contacts. This is why many other companies can use Omron switches and have no issues for several years, whereas Logitech is still plagued with complaints.

I've read that the double click issue is more common on the 50mil click switches than any other in the logitech mouse so if you get one with lower of higher rating maybe you will avoid it in the long run.  I got a g305 about one year ago and it's quite fine for now.

If that's the one you want to go for. @TheChromaBristlenose made a very good point about the fact the mice you've had have been Logitech. I've only owned one Logitech mouse, and it was only used while browsing, not gaming, so it's usage would be far, far lower than any of my other mice. I'd probably try a different brand.
