NH-D14 For my I7 6700K

svrhub

How good will my octua NH-D14 with dual fans be? i have the worst coolermaster (cheap $25, so cheap it doesnt screw on just click into holes) with one fan and im rolling 60-80 on my I5-5600 (65W)

Im hoping to stay in 50-70 range on the new I7-6700K with the DH-14.

I know i could get a 7700k with my chipset but i don't overclock and don't care about the tiny CPU increase im going to be GPU bound anyway

My I5 is going to be another server :P

... probably, but in this case I'd recommend another cooler. NH-D14 costs a ton in CPU coolers terms.

Buy Gelid Phantom (Black) and that will do the job. Costing only 1/3 probably

A D14 is pretty overkill for that CPU

i don't overclock

Don't bother buying a huge cooler. A U12S would do.

Also don't get an i7-6700K if you can get a Ryzen CPU for cheaper. You can often get a CPU, ram, and motherboard for the cost of the 6700K used.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Yeah i coulda rebuilt my rig for a Ryzen for $50 more, but i was gifted this I5-6400 for free and have been gaming on it so i didnt want to get a new mobo and the processor will go back into its stock case and become my 6th server :P

And it seems to be pretty forward compatible so its my 2 year down the line upgrade cooler.

The D14 is legendary for a reason. If you are getting it used its still worth it.. It should let you exploit that 6700K.

AMD R9 5900X | Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO, T30,TL-C12 Pro
Asus Crosshair VIII Dark Hero | 4x8GB G.Skill Trident Z @ 3733C14 1.5v

Your decision but it is pretty easy. I did it with a vice. I was even so skilled to drop the cpu onto the concrete floor and a bit of gold plating came off. 😅 It still works flawlessly  😇

btw in some benchkarks CNPS20X preceedes NH-D14

In some Deepcool Assassin III does, and in some, even Fuma 2 is better.
