Confused between HP Omen i7 10750H 2070 Max Q and Asus G15 4900HS 2060 Max Q!

Hi guys!

I want to get a new laptop but I am confused between the two of these...

HP Omen 2020                                        Asus ROG G15
CPU: i7 10750H (45W)                            CPU: Ryzen 4900HS (35W)
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2070 Max Q (80W)     CPU: Nvidia RTX 2060 (65W)
Price: $2075                                            Price: $1780

I will be using it as my main device for video and photo editing, MS Office, media consumption and a bit of gaming. I am confused which one should I go with. Please help. Thanks!

If you're doing more productivity work I'd go with the G15.

Here's my (somewhat biased) reasons why:

The 4900HS with 2 extra cores will do you better in video/photo editing or heavy productivity tasks, as well as do very well in gaming (since it's zen2)

IMO the Asus just looks better, and I've been super happy with my Asus Zephyrus.

I personally wouldn't pay $200 more for a small(ish) increase in performance.

Just my two cents

R9 3900x, 32gb 3200mhz corsair dominator RGB, 1070Ti Founders Edition, HP 512GB PCIe M.2 SSD

Xmg core 15 ryzen 4000 version has the new rtx 2060 that beats any 2070max q (this 2060 is allowed to run at 110w and has the cooling for it so it can easily reach it). Paired with a beyond fully unlocked ryzen 4800h which basically means that it performs like the desktop ryzen 3700x. Other than that the laptop is better in every way than the rog g15 and omen listed here whilst being cheaper

If that isn't an option the hp omen ryzen 4000 is still better than the g15 and omen in performance and otherwise is the same as the hp omen 2020. Also cheaper than either laptop.

The cpu in the Asus G15 is better than the i7, it's got a lot more threads for production purposes. If just gaming, the HP Omen would be a better choice.

Yes!

I was also considering the Lenovo Legion 5PI
CPU: i7 10750H
GPU: RTX 2060 Max Q
Price: $1830

But I feel this one is a bit pricier considering the specs and comparing them with HP and Asus.

XMG isn't an option where I stay.

And I wouldn't mind going with HP Omen Ryzen variant considering it has a webcam, a full size RGB keyboard and looks better than Asus G15. But unfortunately it's out of stock in my country! :(

Is it urgent? That omen would be your best bet as the g15 is not a good laptop.

It sort of is. My laptop died sometime ago and I am working from an old desktop. Don't know how much longer can I hold. Maybe I can wait a month more for the HP Omen Ryzen variant to restock.

I'd go for the G15 if you are going on a productivity use case. If you do 3D rendering or heavy gaming I would go with the Omen.

Thanks,

I am leaning towards G15 as well. The only thing that's stopping me is no webcam, non RGB keyboard, and the way it looks. It still has those gaming laptop aesthetics while Omen and Legion can be taken to client meetings as well!

Rs.1,30,000 - Rs.1,50,000.
Laptops are a bit costlier here due to the import duty and other taxes.

Thank you so much for this! But I have already seen all of these laptops and shortlisted Legion 5PI, HP Omen and Asus G15.

Legion 5PI looks so good but again, it has an Intel i7.
I don't want to go for Helios 300 as I don't like the design.
For a moment, I did consider the MSI GP65 but again, the design is not as good.
And ofcourse, the HP Omen i7 RTX 2070 is already in the shortlist.

So many choices make you so confused sometimes!
