Im Losing My Mind over Cases

chippu

I've looked at so, so many cases. I still don't know what one to pick.

I don't need insane thermal performance or anything, not insane airflow, but still welcome airflow.

I don't really want to spend more than ~100 or so.

I've heard good things about the Fractal Meshify C, but also heard in 2020 it's not worth it compared to others.

I can't made a definitive answer. Any help?

Specs: Sapphire PULSE RX 580 (8GB), Ryzen 3 3200G (Soon to be Ryzen 5 3600), Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB (16GB), MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX, Corsair RM (2019) 750W

Meshify C or P400A are really the best cases you can get on average

Good airflow, lots of support for drives/cooling/gpu length

I have always and will always recommend any case by Phanteks. They offer amazing build quality for the price. Both the p400a and p500a are great options within your budget.

I mostly speak from my own past experience from similar problems. My solution may not work for you, but I'll always try my best to help as much as I can. If you want me to see your reply, make sure to quote my comment or mention me @WaggishOhio383, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Check out the Phanteks P300, it isn’t airflow centred but I have the same graphics card as you (Gigabyte Windforce Version) and I never go over 80 degrees.
It has RGB and it comes in white. It’s 100 AUD so about 60 USD.

There is also the p300a if you care a lot about airflow.

i did not enjoy my experience with the meshify c, just too cramped. do yourself a favor and get something roomy to work in, the p500a non rgb is 100 bucks when its in stock and is an incredible case for the price. ive ordered the drgb myself, and based on my previous experiences with phanteks cases and reviews it should kick ass. good thermals/noise levels, good features, good build quality, good component compatibility, good cable management, good cooling options, its got everything.

topics i need help on:

Spoiler

my "oops i bought intel right before zen 3 releases" build

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 (placeholder)

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

Sounds like you're making yourself a headcase, hyuck hyuck.

I'm super partial to Phanteks at this point both from a customer service perspective and how the case I bought for my current system came, including the plastic parts box that actually closed and kept things separate and the really clean and complete manual...but the case I bought was closer to $200.  Not sure if the experience is the same for ~$100 cases.

I hear good things about their recent offerings like the P400 and P500 type cases, but perhaps watch a couple video reviews first.

I like roomy cases too.

Ones that the top come off even better.

Meshify C seems to be the perfect size case to me. Every other case I've had seems like it has so much wasted space.

I use Corsair 4000D airflow, they come in 3 variants. Regular, airflow, and rgb with front glass, they look really good and mine fills all my needs, ive had the same problem as you the past 4 weeks.. hehe

thats exactly what my thought process was when i was first looking at cases, but the extra space is so good for working around in. now that ive done it a few times id be able to build in compact cases relatively easily but its still a pain and ill avoid em while i can

Some good cases in this price range include (according to reviews from GamersNexus and others):

-Cooler Master TD500 Mesh

-Phanteks P400A Digital (narrow case, huge air coolers like the NH-D15 may have trouble fitting easily)

-Be quiet Pure Base 500 DX (move top fan to the front)

-Corsair 275R Airflow

-Cooler Master NR600 (add an extra front fan)

-Fractal Design Meshify C (add an extra front fan - also, this is a short case front-to-back so including a front-mounted radiator and large GPU might be a problem)

-Phanteks P300A Mesh (requires two front fans added to not suck, also narrow and short front-to-back)

Ryzen 5 5600 :: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC :: MSI B550-VC :: WD SN750 :: NH-D15 :: 32GB DDR4-3200 :: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG
