AMD Ryzen slower speeds

I have an AMD Ryzen 7 3700x and the advertised boost clock speed is 4.4 Ghz but while gaming or running cinebench in single core test I get around 4.1 Ghz which is pretty disappointing.

Is this normal and is there a way to correct this ?

 

(My drivers are up to date for my BIOS and Chipset)

That's normal behavior.  The only way to get all cores up to that boost speed is to try a manual overclock. 

 

How close you can actually get to 4.4 will be up to the god's to decide.  Also, how comfortable you are with adding voltage. 

 

I'd imagine most folks wouldn't recommend going higher than 1.325V with low LLC settings and then you'll also find a good many that wouldn't recommend going higher than 1.3V with slightly more LLC.  On my CPU I can't find real stability at any voltage higher than 1.2625V with the second highest level of LLC.  That droops down to 1.244V under load.

sounds normal, boost speeds highly dependent on cooling so unless you have a big air cooler or a good aio you aren't likely to see those speeds

This was a big fiasco when 3000 series launched. the boost clocks are best-case-scenario clocks, and might only be reached for a few seconds. It's similar to NVIDIA's GPU boost, where it automatically decides clock speeds.

 

Apparently it heavily depends on the VRMs, Cooling, Binning, etc.

Assuming cooling is your limiting factor, setting a manual voltage under 1.3v and see if you can match or exceed the 4.1ghz it's boosting to (before undervolt OC'ing my 3600, see sig, peak clocks were 4ghz, throttled under sustained load to 3.7 with temps in the mid 80's, now temps in the mid 70s for realistic loads)
