Refresh Rate OC Preset and G-sync

ManDownUnder

Hello.

I have a few questions regarding refresh rate overclocking.

I have an Acer Predator xb271hu A monitor. 144-165 refresh rate 1ms 27 inch 2k TN panel.

The default refresh rate is 144 but there is an overclock setting in the monitor settings that raises it to a preset if 165 refresh rate.

1. Are there any negative effects from doing this?

2. will g-sync work up to 165 refresh rate or only up too 144?

3. is this even worth doing or just leave on default?

1. Yes. Longevity of the monitor. If it doesn't work the screen will most likely go black. And return to normal.

2. I hate G sync. it makes input lag worse for some reason. same with freesync

3. Leave it to default if you get stable 165fps.

EDIT: The option for 165hz will most likely not reduce the lifetime of the monitor since it is built in.

not really any negatives to it

GSync will work as high as the refresh rate goes

Not really a noticeable difference but if it does run at 165Hz why not use it?

Hey.

Default is 144 but it stats all over the box and book that its OC mode is 165.

Also i was in the same boat as you with not liking g-sync until i set it up correctly (like under-capping fps -4 under refresh rate and vsync on in nvcp  etc)

and when i experienced the tear free fun gaming i never play without g-sync anymore.
