So this is a common thing, it's the plastic on the GPU shroud (or the monitor) shrinking, at high temperatures (like when the PC is on) the plastic expands.

You can notice this on the monitor too

Hey everyone, I been getting paranoid recently about this loud cracking sound that my pc makes. It always does this couple of hours after shutdown and as title says it's one time, it can be repeated only after system got powered on. Sound itself is like a plastic snapping in half. I suspect it's from psu but is this even normal or I have a faulty/dying pc?

 

Parts I suspect may be the reason this noise occurs:

Mobo: X470 Prime Pro

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower grand 650W

Could be a HDD as well or a fan. Can you maybe post a short video or audio file? Is it a lighter sound, maybe from a relay?

PSA: No, I didn't waste all that money on computers, (except the main one) my server cost $40, the intel NUC was my old PC (although then it had 8GB of ram, I gave the bigger stick of ram to a person who really needed it), my laptop is used and the second PC is really cheap.

I like tinkering with computers and have a personal hatred towards phones and everything they represent (I daily drive an iPhone 7, or a 6, depends on which one works that day)
