Avr for 230v eu certified PSU

Go to solution Solved by HM-2,

But to answer the OPs question, yes, it will work with 220v AVR as it falls within the PSUs nominal voltage range.

Which isn't a judgement on the quality of the PSU, but nor is 80 PLUS rating.

Hi i just recently buy a psu that has 230veu infront. And it said that it has 200v-240v nominal voltage input and a minimum of 180v and maximum of 264v.May i ask if i can use 220v avr?

Yes but I'd the power supply is only 230v certified, it's usually very poor quality and a risk to use. Return it and get a proper power supply that won't destroy your system.

It's a fake rating. 80+ requires the power supply to be able to run from 90 to 264 volts. So that should tell you enough about the quality when the rating is falsified.

It's not a fake rating, 80+ certifies 230V-only PSUs too. That Silverstone has an 80+ Standard 230V EU rating.

It's real and the report is published on PlugLoad Solutions website for anyone who wants to check if it's real or not.

It's not certified by 80+. Their own documents state the power supply must be functional in 110v and 230v environments for certification to bee valid. That one is not valid.

This is common malpractice in the industry.

The Silverstone achieves the efficiency target but does not meet 80+ requirements as outlined in their docs.

Wrong. The ST40F-ES is listed explicitly on the 80 PLUS website:

Has there been an amendment to the programme in recent times as recently I was told they were not certifying EU only units.

I suspect that may be for new units (IE going forward) as it's basically impossible to rescind certification for ones that are already on the market. The 115v version of the same PSU is also represented in the respective list.

It could be the case that it would no longer pass accreditation but met standards at the time it was evaluated in 2016.

I think that's the case with 80+ Bronze and up, maybe?

Assuming it's not a used or abused unit, yes.
