New Case & Power Supply

Back in December of last year I built a new gaming PC and I re-used the old power supply and case. I built the last PC in 2015. I was wondering if I needed to get a new power supply, or if the old one would last until 2024 or 2025. It is a Corsair RMx 750 Watt 80+ Gold unit. 

 

In addition to that I am looking into getting a new PC Case because my current one only has one front USB 3.0 port, and I would also like newer features like a tempered glass side panel and a power supply shroud. I have a Corsair SPEC-01 Case right now. I was thinking something like an NZXT H510 or the Corsair 220T RGB. I have a black and red color scheme and would like to stay with that, but I would also consider a case with RGB as long as its black.

 

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Arctic Freezer 34 eSports

MSI b450 Tomahawk Max

16GB DDR4 3600MHz G.Skill

ASRock AMD RX 5700XT Challanger D

Intel 660P & Samsung 860 Evo

 

I just bought 2 120mm Rosewill PWM Red LED fans, so if I could re-use those that would be nice.

you'd do good with a phanteks p400a digital/be quiet 500dx/ cm td500 (all these cases have nice thermals out of the box, and have psu shrouds and tempered glass side panels). the h510 is a very mediocre case at best (due to airflow concerns). Also, that psu is actually very good, certainly better than my 'ol CX unit from '13. You're all good

100% keep that PSU, it is very well rated, and 5 years old is fine, it still has 2 more years of warranty (7-years from purchase).

 

I'd recommend a better airflow case, Phanteks P300A and P400A a great options. As is the Fractal Design Meshify C TG, Corsair 275R Airflow and 220T, Cooler Master TD500 Mesh, to name a few.

 

I'd skip the NZXT H510, the 220T is much better or airflow if you are set on those two options.

Agree with everyone else, the RMx is still a great PSU that we still offer right now, and no need to replace it yet.  As far as cases go, what is your planned budget?  CORSAIR 275R Airflow, 220T Airflow, and 465X are all suitable for your airflow needs and will fit your existing hardware.  Besides different price points, 220T will have a compact footprint compared to the other two, while 465X adds front TG with large airflow openings.  Let me know if you have any questions about those cases.

I would like to be under $130 if possible. I liked my Corsair SPEC-01 case, I know my motherboard doesn't have a type-c header on it, but I can always get a PCIe Card to add one. I am definitely looking for something with good airflow. Those cases look like good options. I like smaller cases because they take up less space, and generally I don't think I will be doing that many upgrades. My only current issue with my corsair case is that the power supply cables are very thick (which is a good thing) but the back side panel is very hard to get on because of that. Will definitely keep my Corsair Power Supply.

Almost all options listed are under $130.

The FD Meshify is the best case of the dozen+ I have owned over the past few years. I am currently using it for my main system. Plenty of room for cables and excellent management of said cables as well. I have my case packed with all drive bays full and I can easily close the back panel.

I highly reocmmend it!

 

It's an EVGA cable kit, they look nice but are extremely stiff, if you want custom cables the best I have used are the cablemod kits.

No reason to really avoid brands per say, all of these brands also make bad cases, ti's more just looking for good airflow options with other features you like.

the 500dx/p400a digital/ td500 come with better airflow than the meshify C from the factory. I'd recommend those

Lain Li is about to launch the Lancool 2 mesh (July 13th I believe) which should be very competitive in not just airflow, but standout features as well such as adjustable spacing AIO brackets, side panel lower doors for easy HDD and PSU access, Extended ATX board support with a flipable cable cutout tray, and of course, theorized best in class airflow.
