I need help choosing a graphics card

Sayeshan Fieri

Hi Guys,so I’m building my first gaming pc I’m having a tough time deciding on what graphics card to buy.I live in South Africa and graphics card prices are extremely expensive.I can buy a brand new RTX 2070 Super for R13500 ( $800) or a used GTX 1080ti for R7000 ( $410). The GTX 1080ti belongs to a friend of mine who is upgrading to a 2080 soon and I have played a few games on his PC with it and it is working fine and it is in excellent condition. The only new graphics card my budget will allow me is a RTX 2060 for R10500 ( $620). Also if anyone can give me a good cpu recomendation for around $450 I would greatly appreciate it.

excellent deal for that 1080 ti.

hard to go wrong with a Ryzen 5 3600, in an affordable B450 board.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

Go for the 1080 ti

as for the cpu, either a ryzen 3600 or 3700x on a b450 tomahawk max motherboard

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Quote or tag me so I can see your response

Thanks for the recommendation, will the Ryzen 5 3600 have any bottleneck issues with the 1080ti?

generally no, it's a pretty good CPU for high refresh rate gaming and modern titles

$800 for a 2070 Super?? 😳

That's a very good deal for that 1080ti. Go for that deal. Usually, 1080ti's cost the same as 2080ti's, but that's a very good deal on the 1080ti, so get that 1080ti for 7000 rupees, get it very very good deal. For cpu's a ryzen 7 3700x is probably the best, but if you are doing only gaming on your pc, go for an intel core i5 10600k, but if you are doing anything else, then go for a 3700x. Both CPU's are great, get the ryzen for multitasking and creative work,  but get the intel for doing one program at a time and solely gaming.

I was thinking of doing that, but the shipping from USA to South Africa is $254 so it’s still going to cost me the same as buying one here

Do you think I would be able to play Forza Horizon 4 at 1440p Ultra settings?

What's the choice here?

1080 ti vs 2060?

don't even hesitate dude

obviously go for the 1080 ti!!!

you're saying that its from your friend, its in a great condition and you can get it for 200 dollars cheaper then a new 2060 - REALLY WORTH IT!!!

one concern is the gpu model

if its a blower card (1 fan, usually founders edition) make sure you have a good airflow in your case to help keep the card within reasonable temps

anyway its an insane deal don't miss on it

really worth the money and with a ryzen 5 3600, thats a really solid build

It’s an ASUS ROG Strix (with 3 fans) and its going into an NZXT H710i but i am not sure if I need to buy more case fans to prevent overheating.

I could mail a package to South Africa for WAY cheaper than that using Fed Ex.

I think you could do it at 60 and maybe 120 FPS but I don’t think 144 FPS would work out. I’m guessing you’d get like 90-100 FPS.

I’m just used to thinking R = Rupees because I’m a lot more familiar with it. It could mean Indian rupees, South African rand, Russian rubles, etc., so it’s hard to tell.
