70°C Idle Ryzen 5 3600?

TheRedBarron

Built my new PC but the fans are really loud. I have 4 case fans and the CPU cooler and my Ryzen 5 3600 is running at 60 to 70 degrees on idle. It doesnt get much hotter when Im playing but the fans get really loud and I'm wondering if I just need to ajust the fan curve more (I have already tried a lot) or if theres something wrong.

If it's idling at 70C, there's definitely something very wrong.

That's still high for idle temp, did you apply your own thermal paste or use the pre applied paste?

First step would be to check that you've screwed the cooler all the way down, and nothing else is getting in the way preventing proper mounting pressure. I have a 3600 with the stock cooler currently and it idles around 40, so something is definitely not right here.

Also, what program are you using to monitor temperature? You should be using Ryzen Master, the one you're using could be giving faulty readings.

if it doesnt get much higher while playing, then please define idle

how much is your CPU utilized in idle. there could be alot of bagground stuff pounding your CPU while not gaming?

What case are you in and what is the airflow like?

I've experienced similiar issues on cases with very poor airflow and insufficient fans; also are your case fans oriented correctly?  I know these questions might sound obvious, but sometimes that is what is wrong 🙂

Peace

In addition to what @shabbirhsaid: which cooler and which board? Any OC?

Something is definitely not right here.
