When is Intel 10th gen coming out? For Brother's PC upgrade.

So my brother still using a locked 3rd gen 4c4t want to upgrade within the next few weeks.

When are these new 10th gen cpus coming out? I read it would be sometime April-June, but we're almost through June and I can't find them anywhere. 9th gen doesn't have anything with hyperthreading unless it's a 400+ dollar i7 which is a huge letdown.

And then of course there's the 166 dollar Ryzen 3600 on Amazon, but I wanted to double check by asking here if it might be worth waiting for Intel's 10th gen.

Either way what's your brother's budget ?

LGA 1200 is not a good platform especially for p/p 

Ryzen is the way to go in almost every situation

not worth it. budget Intel CPUs do not have a real performance advantage, and unlocked motherboard + CPU combos are way too expensive for small gains.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

And the budget platforms are really bad in terms of power delivery and ram speed support

200 bucks for a new platform and a new cpu ?! 

That's not going to happen especially with the new platform 

A 3100 and a b450 pro 4 should be around 200 bucks 

For gaming it's more than enough

No 200 usd is just for CPU.
I'm now looking for a good motherboard for the 3600 though if you've got any suggestions.

Already out, but u can't upgrade without getting a brand new mobo bc it is now LGA 1200 instead of LGA 1151. Also it is not worth it at all except for maybe 10900K, Ryzen is still better in everything if you don't need an iGPU. 

Fuck you scalpers, fuck you scammers, fuck all of you jerks that charge way too much to tech-illiterate people.

Gamers' Nexus has done a in-depth analysis of the i5-10400.

It's a tough CPU to sell.

You are locked to DDR4-2666 memory on this chip, and performance REALLY takes a hit.

DDR4-2666 vs DDR4-3200...we are talking about like a 15 ~ 20+ FPS difference; it's pretty significant.

 

You can get a Z490 motherboard, THEN the memory can run faster, but then you defeat the purpose of buying a BUDGET and LOCKED i5-10400.

Because the board is going to be $200 ~ $250+.

At that point, might as well get the i5-10600K.

 

If you are comparing i5-10400 + H410 / B460 /  H470 board, might as well just get a Ryzen 3300X or Ryzen 3600.

Ryzen + motherboard + DDR4-3000 ~ 3600 RAM, and you'll walk all over the i5-10400.

 

Basically, if you want to get on the Intel 10th Gen platform, either pick up the i9-10900K or i5-10600K.

If you already have a 8th Gen or 9th Gen CPU, and you use the system mainly for gaming, there is no point upgrading to 10th Gen.

Not all B450 motherboards have support for Ryzen (Matisse CPUs) out of the box and will need a BIOS update and an older CPU to perform that update, looking from the experiences of other customers with this board it supports Ryzen out of the box, although since it's not stated officially on the product page, there's no guarantees that the unit you buy comes with the updated BIOS out of the box.

Yes, that will be fine up to an overclocked 3700X / 3800X.

 

The ASUS TUF B450M boards would do fine with a 3600(X) as well.
