Personally, I like air better but if I ever went for a watercooled build, I'd do it for performance, looks and fun. Assuming you mean custom loop.

Air is technically better imo but if I went water cooling I would say  either fun or aesthetics

If I wanted to be basic I’d get a console.

I would go air for performance and sound since air is quieter usually. But i went for aio since it looks good and performs little better than top end air coolers. but the aio is pretty loud and i was stupid enough to buy it

Motherboard tier list. Tier A for overclocking 5950x. Tier B for overclocking 5900x, Tier C for overclocking 5800X. Tier D for overclocking 5600X. Tier F for 4/6 core Cpus at stock. Tier E avoid.

(Also case airflow matter or if you are using Downcraft air cooler)

Gpu tier list. Rtx 3000 and RX 6000 not included since not so many reviews. Tier S for Water cooling. Tier A and B for overcloking. Tier C stock and Tier D avoid.

( You can overclock Tier C just fine, but it can get very loud, that is why it is not recommended for overclocking, same with tier D)

If we are talking AIO, I would only ever go for one if I was working with a super small build that cannot fit a good air cooler.

Personally not a huge fan of AIO coolers in bigger cases because it looks way too empty. That's just my take on them though.

I run an AIO for both the performance and the sound - as in there isn't any.

 

Custom loops are for people with more time on their hands than I have, and who enjoy tinkering with stuff.

 

I don't like tinkering, it annoys me, build it, leave it, use it. I don't want to have to clean it, watch it, adjust it.  I want to plug it in and let it run.

 

Each to their own though.

Weird you put in too much money, doesn't fit with the poll as you have stated it.  Mine is performance (I OC my CPU and GPU).  I have aggressive fan curves and set load files for the OC, but only come into play with gaming or high workloads like my Photogrammetry, AutoCAD rendering, or Microstation bridge load calculations.

For me, it's all about how it looks. I know that these days you can get similar cooling with air, for considerably lees money! But a nice custom loop can't be beat when it comes to aesthetics!
