I think a Raspberry Pi is something every techie should have. It's fun and useful to play around with. Some sort of portable battery pack is probably another, along with a load of random cables for people who forget their phone charger.

EDIT: USB Stick! Probably the most essential thing ever

A RaspberryPi is basically a very small, basic computer that runs Linux. You can do cool things with them like create remote control cars, use them to control your central heating etc.

I might pick one up

Here's the thing for remote control cars http://pi-cars.com/

I saw something a while ago about a guy that fitted one to his actual car that allowed him to start it remotely

I am looking for a folder or pouch to put my usb drives in for storage in my tool bag.

But other than that all the usual stuff,  pliers, box knife, side cutters, multi meter, electrical tape and cable ties.

There's a load of tutorials around for things to do with them. It can be a pretty good way to learn your way around Linux too

you'll get there too, I'm 38 and have been collecting tools since I was old enough to buy my first screwdriver, I know have tools all over the place, from EE tools to precision and specialist tools to engine rebuilding and automotive tools, to wood working tools (I even have a lathe in my shed), metal work and fibreglassing you name it.
