Nova play wireless headphones - scam product?

Hi LTT community,

 

I usually don't write or post things online, but yesterday evening my girlfriend showed me a celebrity advertising discounted wireless headphones and it seemed fishy to me. I need help people spreading the word to stop this.

 

The story was published on instagram by @kyliejenner (apparently a big celeberty in US), not sure how one can see it if not using the Instagram app, and the person is advertising "Nova Play" wireless headphones with 70% discount using a promo code. Nothing crazy here.

It started looking more fishy when I saw the website and it said free shipping worldwide and the headphones cost only 39$, and that they have 150k happy customers and the website had only 5 star reviews.

Then I tried googling for reviews of this product - nothing, not even a picture in google images. This is odd.

Then I checked the who.is of the domain name "nova-play.com" and it is registered on 31st of April, only 1 month ago. Interesting.

All of their social media pages have post not older that 4h of May, and in some social platforms like Instagram all the posts are made on 4th of May. Even more interesting.

Tried searching online the company name that is listed n their website and also didn't find anything. Something is not right.

At this stage it looks either they managed to get 150k customers in less than a month, or this whole product is fake.

 

I need the help of this community to either tell me that this is a real product, or help spreading a word about this fake product so that people don't get scammed.

I bought a pair this morning (I know so stupid) and then I saw this post and cancelled my order. I still haven't heard anything back and I doubt I will. They have the same website as Airbuds and the product looks identical

My guess is that they might delay the delivery of the product due to "Covid-19" situation, and after 30 days there is no way of getting the money back.

I think you're right, it said in the TC's you have 24 hours to cancel your order for a full refund and I cancelled 30mins after I ordered...but yeah I don't think I'll get one

I can't say whether or not it's a scam but they look suspiciously like every other airpods clone to come out of China. In the same price range I'd recommend the KZ S2 that just released, unfortunately I purchased the S1 right before they released the S2 so I'm a little bit annoyed at that but they sound miles better than the cheap airpods clones that it looks like this company uses. Remember also that shady companies often send higher quality parts to reviewers so that there is positive press to trick customers into believing the product is better quality than it is, not saying that's happened here but it isn't inconceivable.

Hi I actually ordered one of these yesterday at 12 PM almost an hour after Kylie promote them it’s a total scam I don’t know if they will arrive to me, I don’t know if they are going to scam my card credit I don’t know what is going to happen I’m scared but I know it sounds stupid I was suspicious about these patients I did my research and it seems like it’s originally from France they have the same reviews in French the same pictures but with another name I don’t know what to think and I already gave up my money, if you order one of these please try to contact your bank to see if they give you a refund or block ur credit cards for the safety to not get more scammed

They are sooooo fishy, so i wanted to purchase this but then when i saw the ( try it for 30 days and the return is on us if you don’t like it) I decided to read the return policy which then said ( can’t return in case you unseal the box and use it) so actually if you even ONLY open the package, you can’t return it. So no lol

Dawiss you are right since morning I tried 2 different card it kept declining thanks god i came across your post it’s fake website I called my bank to send me new card

I also bought some yesterday and tried to cancel my order and I dont get a email back. They sent me a text trying to sell me another one but can't respond to my cancelation? There's and option to 'track your order' but it asks for a order number and they never gave me one! So yes this is a horrible scam and beware do NOT buy this!. I have to call my bank now and cancel my card. Fuck those scamming bitches and why tf is Kylie promoting them. Sad.

Man, next time I'm a bit short on a piece of hardware I might just get one of the "famous for being friends with Paris Hilton and then having a s*x tape 'leaked' and definitely not just manipulating news and creating drama to stay relevant" family promote my bridge selling side-hustle. Once I've sold all the bridges to gullible fans I'll just dip, seems like that's an option these days with no repercussions.

She wants a paycheque my friend and if you know anything about that family it's that they will do just about anything for either fame, a paycheque or both.
That's the reputation she holds, not as a tech enthusiast or reviewer.
