NEWEGG HEADING TO UK IN MARCH!

One of the busiest online electronics stores in the US is about to open for business in Europe, including the UK. Newegg expects to start trading at the end of March, although we're told it'll be a relatively soft launch until the company feels more confident about its shipping and supply lines. The retailer, which is especially well known for its PC and component sales, claims to have 25 million registered users and 8.5 million subscribers to its regular email bulletin -- numbers that look set to grow if the company can find a way to stand amidst competition like Amazon, eBuyer and the British PC-specialist Scan.

I don't think the UK has a free shipping option,and I think it's only offered in the U.S,even Newegg Canada doesn't have free shipping.

We already have good companies. We really don't need New Egg. Besides I don't think they will do very well over here. Most of us already have good vendors we use like Overclockers and Scan. They have a very good reputation for good customer service and a wide range of products.

If they can find some magical way of making shipping to other EU-countries somewhat cheap (unlike amazon.co.uk which is expensive as hell), they will completely take off, if not.. meh, they'll still do ok in the uk.

The UK does already have decent retailers, we just need prices to be more competitive with the likes of the US. There is no need for such a big mark up.

I would welcome the extra competition, it seems over here there are only a couple of choices to go with when buying PC related items, generally the prices are a bit inflated (looking at you Overclockers UK). Scan does some pretty good deals now and then and as long as it's a relatively famous brand, Amazon is usually a good fall back. It'll be interesting that's for sure.
