Should I overclock my RAM

Is there any big performancedifference by going from 3200MHz CL14 to anything higher?

CPU: R7 1800X @ 3.9GHz

Well you can attempt to OC your memory further, I have my 3200MHz Kit OC'd at 3466MHz 1.375V. Anything up to 1.450V is safe for DRAM voltage.

There might be, but I highly doubt the first-gen Ryzen memory controller can handle it. Just 3200Mhz CL14 is already impressive.

Doesn't hurt to try.

I think if you are already at 3200 mhz CL14 on a R7 1800X you won't gain much more if you overclock it. Unfortunately my 3200Mhz CL16 rated RAM does not work stable at 3200 Mhz CL16, it only works if i loose the timings to CL22, but with the extensive tests that i made i ended concluding that i get more performance at 2933Mhz CL14 than on 3200 Mhz CL22.

 

If you can OC it to 3400 or 3600 mhz and keep the timings tight, you might get some more performance, but on Ryzen 1st gen, that is an hard task.
