@5x5 PL2 is as high as you heard it was, also the first time I've seen PL2 be different for CPUs in the same generation and product stack. Competition!

My sources are usually legit ;)

But yeah, PL2 is insanity.

It's a bit amusing because Intel actually gave out the PL2 information on the 1st when they announced 10th Gen desktop but I never noticed until today when I started looking at the reviews and Googled 10900K PL2 lol. So we 'already' knew if we noticed anyway haha.

True - but I've hinted at this all the way back in March :D

Consensus - about 8% better gaming performance, 12% lower multi-core performance (compared to a 3900X) - also about 100$ USD more. Supply also scarce.

After watching most reviews - BIOS are broken. Even more than Zen 1 launch in 2017. Some boards even won't boot....ouch.

From Anandtech

Quote

On the subject of overclocking warranties, even though Intel promotes the use of overclocking, it isn’t covered by the standard warranty. (Note that motherboard manufacturers can ignore the turbo recommendations from Intel and the user is still technically covered by warranty, unless the motherboard does a technical overclock on frequency.) Users who want to overclock and obtain a warranty can go for Intel’s Processor Protection Plans, which will still be available.

I looked it up and here is the link for it

Watching a lot of the reviews, I think the 10600K is the unexpected point of interest here.

Actually looks like a capable midrange chip for gaming.

Some are saying Turbo Boost 3.0 is new. It's new for mainstream, but it's already available on HEDT since Broadwell-E

That's crazy if AMD doesn't put off the release of Zen3 in September. There is no time for intel.

I have a project idea for LTT. Build a PC with this chip out of an old AC window unit. That way the radiator remains outside. 🤔🤣😂
