27" 2560 x 1440 Monitors

Geekazoid

Hi guys,

I've been thinking about possibly going with a 27" 2560 x 1440 monitor and would just like to know how many people actually have and use a 27" 2560 x 1440 display and, how do you like it? I had been thinking about going with a 16:10 1920 x 1200 monitor but then I thought that going with a 27" 2K display might be a better option. I'm not 100%.decided at this stage, however if I get enough convincing it may just sway me to get the 27" 2K monitor then I would go ahead and do that.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've added a poll for those wish not to comment because I often see a lot of views on most threads started but with next to, or in some cases, no replies and so for those of you who do visit this thread, would you mind at least voting so I can kinda get an indication of what you guys use? Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry if that ^ doesn't sound quite right or there are mistakes. I'm a tad tired so there's bound to be some in there somewhere, if not, great. But please excuse any bad grammar or anything, I don't usually have many grammar or misspelling problems.

I think you should at least wait for 4k monitors to come out, even if you don't want one it will drop the price in 2.5k

I have a pb278q, but I only use it for programming and office work.  I don't have any rigs strong enough to use the display for gaming.

You will want to make your purchase based on your research, but a vote/poll thread can't hurt.  I just wouldn't want to make a purchase based on a thread alone.

I have a 24" 16:10 and a PB278Q. I quite like them both.Only get a 1440p monitor if you were willing to sacrifice ultra settings and perfect 60fps gameplay in games like BF4, AC4.

I used to have one. Now i have a 4k 24inch one and my little brother got my PA 278Q. (Btw stay tuned for a review of the Dell UP2414Q)

Don't those cheaper 4K monitors use TN panels, unless you got one of the more expensive ones? Swapping out that PA278Q 27" IPS for a TN monitor is definitely a downgrade no matter what the resolution.

I actually don't play much games, if any in fact, so that won't be a problem at all.

Have you ever used a 27" monitor before?

I bought one to see how it was. I find if you're any closer than 1.5 - 2 feet from it, it's a little too big.

SLI 780s have no issues at 1440p Ultra BF4. Constant 120fps.  I couldnt be happier, and until we get 4k monitors that can do 120Hz Ill be keeping my Korean panel.

No, I haven't used one before but I have seen them in stores, quite big I know. I did say that I haven't completely decided on getting one yet, I'm just toying with the idea.

I want to add that I had also been thinking about going with the Samsung S24C750P MVA monitor because I do watch a lot of videos and thought I'd enjoy the deep blacks that these type of monitors produce.

Here, have a look >> http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=558_1092&products_id=25219 <<

I've never felt the need to have 2 GPUs for a SLI configuration. It would make for quite an expensive rig, but I'm glad that you enjoy yourself with that configuration. :D

It's not professional by any means. It's just editing 1080p family videos.

so why even bother with 1440p then if your not gaming or doing serious work?

I love my 2560x1440 monitor. I think what impressed me most was going from TN to PLS. Also text looks a lot sharper (as you would expect) at 2.5K/QHD/1440p resolution. For $300 it's completely worth it. I have one dead pixel I sometimes notice on what backgrounds and that's the only downside I can think of.

Edit: There is also tons of real estate for working, much like multimonitor setups many workplaces have but in this case on one monitor.

I'm really curious about that little monitor. I currently use a 24" 1080p monitor. I'm wondering whether there's any point going for a monitor that small at 4K?
