Should I get a 2600x from a i7-6700?

No work today and microcenter is selling the 2600x for $80 plus i'll need a b450 board at least. Should I make the 45 minute drive?

See if they have a bundle deal with RAM too. Your 6700 has DDR4 memory, but Ryzen likes fast memory, preferably 3000 or up. Likely your ram is 2133 or 2400 because Intel doesn't see benefits from it.

Hold up, why do you want to make the switch? For most average consumer applications the 2600X is not really an upgrade over the 6700.

Ryzen 5 5600 :: Gigabyte RTX 2070 Super Gaming OC :: MSI B550-VC :: WD SN750 :: NH-D15 :: 32GB DDR4-3200 :: Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG

Cause it's on sale and I always wanted to visit microcenter. It's like Disney Land to me. I should probably save my money though I don't even do alot of gaming anymore

By all means go to Micro Center, but if you want to buy something get a new SSD or something like that.
