I7-9700K temperature

So hey, new here. Just asking if someone could say to me.. what is "safe" temperature for i7-9700K? Is 80c degrees too much for 24/7?

80C is perfectly fine for 100% load over an extended period of time, considering these are pretty hot running chips.

100 degrees C is the max, but even 90 C is alright for prolonged use.

80 degrees C is not issue at all.

If you want to lower your temps though, that may be possible through changing your fan curve. (with the sacrifice of more noise)

I'd say 80 sounds about right considering my 9900k runs at up to 90c under synthetic load with a 360 thick rad from ek for it alone

It depends on the circumstances on what you are doing to get 80C.

Do you have 80C while just browsing the internet and watching youtube ?

80C is safe and will not cause any issues.

Can you give us a little bit more info on case, cooler, ambient temps etc ?

I usually measure my temps in three categories: Idle, Gaming, Stress test with AVX load.

My 9900K (5.1ghz all core with AVX 2) Idle 30-35C, 60-65C gaming, Stress test 80-85C

for actual 24/7 load, if you want it to last, i'd try to bring it down toward 70C, just a bit of voltage optimization will do.

So just to clarify, i have i7-9700k clocked 5,2ghz. Voltage is 1.4v.

Motherboard is msi meg ace z390

Rtx 2080 super gaming x trio

Etc.

Kraken x72 cooling cpu.

got 8 fans if i count 360m radiator fans. 80 celsius with the chip when i do cinebench or stress cpu. With games it's somewhere around 70-77c. Just wondering is it safe to use like that everyday ?

upwards of 80-90C with a 360 Rad!!!? I've never seen results like this before..then again none of my friends have 9th Gen intel chips since Ryzen exists. So I haven't been able to see first hand how hot the 9700 and 9900K's are

I was wanting to try either out when they become affordable down the line purely to see how far I could push it since I have a lot of fun with my old 2600K getting it stable at 4.6-4.7ghz

Maybe i'll wait until an exceptionally cold winter

Then I would say 80C is totally fine.

1.4V is a bit high imo but I know some ppl run this without problems.

For long term use I would want to keep the voltage under 1.35V.

I would probably back it down to 5.1ghz and lowering your voltage but thats just me.

Why even suggest an alternative when OP has already bought himself a new PC ?
