Posted January 21, 2020 Hey guys I got a Ryzen 7 2700x oc'ed to 4.2 ghz. I'm really thinking on getting into streaming so i'm thinking on getting a 3900x. Not sure if it's worth it, i jsut have heard so many good things about 3gen ryzen. my current setup is: Ryzen 7 2700x Evga SC2 GTX 1080 ti 32gb LPX 3000mhz x570 auros Master Corsair H100i pro 1tb ssd 2tb hdd Evga supernova G3 1000W Fractal design meshify C. But if i get the 3900x should i get some faster ram too or is that pointless?

Posted January 21, 2020 Even for streaming the 3900X is really overkill. Look to the 3700x instead. I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B Primary PC: i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me. Posted January 21, 2020 While the 3900X is nice for streaming, your 2700X can handle it fairly well too so don't worry about that.

He already has a perfectly good mobo in the X570 Aorus Master, he should either be looking at a 3700X or higher, or wait for Ryzen 4 series......Intel should not be a consideration. You haven't seen what Intel will put out after "14nm +++++++". Who knows what will happen in the next year or two. Intel could literally destroy AMD or they cant. But it doesn't make sense since OP has an excellent mobo in the X570 Aorus Master, he should be ready for Ryzen 4xxx when it comes out. Going Intel would mean he has to get rid of his mobo and go for whatever Intel mobo that supports the latest Intel. More practical to keep his present CPU + mobo and wait for the Ryzen 4xxx instead (which is my recommendation to the OP). Either go big now, Ryzen 3900X at least, or wait for Ryzen 4xxx.....as for the RAM, it maybe be possible to OC the RAM to 3200MHz (really depends on modules used though). Posted January 22, 2020 Yeah as others said the 3900x would be a nice jump in performance and so on but your 2700x is still good for now and waiting for the new AMD stuff this year probably makes more sense.. Still if you cant wait haha then the 3900x is an awesome cpu.
Posted January 22, 2020 I am amazed that someone suggested junking the x590, AMD universe and going Intel way ( At least thinking about it) I had been an Intel fan for the last 18 yrs, built all my rigs Intel... till about 5 months back when I read about AMD and what all they were doing... Although it is a personal preference.. Intel vs AMD, IMO, you get bigger bang for your hard earned buck going the AMD Route... I have the X470/2700x, and I am so satisfied with what all it can do. So my friend.. stick with AMD.. there are better things on the horizon from AMD compared to Intel....
 I have had the 3900X and I currently own the 3700X and 3950X and I can tell you for streaming and gaming they are essentially the same. It depends what you plan on doing other than streaming and gaming for a high core count CPU. I don't 100% buy into the idea that all you need it 6-8 cores to game since people tend to do more than just game but for me it comes down to price and expectations. If you have the money for the 3900X and know for gaming it's not an upgrade sure, but if you expect to gain 15% more performance than no. I'd rather put that money into faster RAM, better GPU (now or down the line), or more M.2 NVME stroage SFF Time N-ATX V2 - Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro WIFI - AMD Ryzen 9 5800X3D - Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 4090 - LG C2 OLED 42"
